Hi , been having a little problem with my wagon. Hard to explain this one. When slowing down abruptly , the cars seems to stall..ie the revs drop down to 0 then stalls ( losing power steering etc ) with a little clutch action, it then brings revs back up etc ( like jump starting etc ) and drives normally any ideas?

Thanks

Check the online manual mate (do a search). There's various diagnostics in there. Its probably the idle air valve assembly (called something like that, a small collection of solenoids that do the idling) on the back passenger side of the engine.

Have you done any work/mods to the car just before this started to happen ? a common cause is actually an air leak which can cause engine stall.

Yeah, have modded the car a bit. induction and exhaust. Replaced the oem air filters with 2 apexis. The car boosts perfectly to about .6 bar which is right for standard boost..also been listening out for leaks, which I cant hear as well..Ah well The search continues...any help out there?

thanks

typical!! Now running only .5 bar and got code 55 on the ecu..hmmm..any ideas?

Thanks

Well code 55 means the ECU isn't detecting any problems. But dont have a clue why you would be hitting safety boost??!!

had a look around the engine bay there, when it wasnt f*cking raining!. Couldnt see any visible boost leaks. The water temp sender plug is broken and seems to be connected via gravity alone...

As well, when the ecu throws up a code 55, what would cause safety boost.any help would be appreciated

Thanks

you only get full boost and ignition advance once you reach a certain coolant temp (maybe 65 or 70), your temp sender is almost certainly the cause of the problem.

Thanks Clarkey, I'll head out now and do a DIY fix and see how I get on. Also can anyone let me know what I'd need to clean , check to address dodgy idle etc

Thanks

ok, fixed up the connector as best as possible to make a solid contact...still makes no difference. ( possible sender faulty? ) .5bar on full boost..the idle seems to be ok when warm, so its a cold idle problem..Also ran ecu diagnostic again when engine was hot and got 55 again...help!

Idle problem causes

Check pcv valves, squeeze the pipe by the pcv valve with pliers if the engine speed rises or the tick over is smoother you have faulty pcv valves.

Fuel pressure regulater.

EGR valve stuck open at idle

Idle air adjuster and or the Air regulater valve

Safety boost issue when the engine is hot is more than likely as said before the ECU temp sender or harness faulty, code 13 dosnt allways show up, the sender is sending the wrong info to the ECU, telling it, its cold when in fact its hot so keeping you in safety boost

Another thing to remenber is, these cars dont like the hot weather and dont run as well due to the less dense air

just thought of something else you can try. Disconnect the battery over night this will reset the ECU

already have changed the pcv valves, so will look at the other options as well. Didnt know that you couldnt have full boost under a certain temp..learn something new every day!! Have ordered a new temp sender from Mike so hopefully will sort out that problem. Thanks for all your help guys

hi scotty how much difference has the de catts made is it alot louder are you worried about your turbo seals sorry about the wrong thread just intrested cheers

check the aac valve. with ignition off take out the black screw on the AAC unit and you'll see a small filter on the end. Give it a quick clean with some brake cleaner etc and re fit. Will have to find the correct setting when re-fitting to maintain correct idle.

5 min job but causes big problems lol

Common fault on all Nissans.
