I have for about 20 years now been trying to give it up (on and off). Well I have managed a 3 month stint but it got me and I started again. That was 3 years ago. I am seriously thinking about having another go and what better time to go for it than the 1st of July?

"Is there anyone else" who would like to join me and give it up?

Yeah but you cant get obese from passive eating. :D

The thing is Rich. It has never been scientifically proven that you can get cancer from passive smoking. Although even as a smoker I can see why non smokers want this. Anything anti social should be governed. I aint bothered by this law, sod it if thats the way its going to be then so be it. My concerns are more towards the Big Brother is watching you syndrome. Each year another law comes out that restricts us from doing what we want and each new rule brings us closer to a life where we are being watched and controlled by the government.

"FOOKIN NANNY STATE"They will be after the drinkers next you wait and see.If they want to ban something worthwhile, that will actually do some fooking good in this screwed up world. "BAN RELIDGION"

Funny thing Vinz. On the radio a few weeks ago they was saying that the government were thinking about introducing a law to stop binge drinking as this country is the worlds worst binge drinking nation. So you aint far wrong mate. AND YES! Religion is without doubt the biggest cause of death world wide.

it all stems down to no win no fee, people are making a mockery out of the justice system claming their cancer came from working in a room filled with smoke, they cant prove it did, but the law cant prove it didnt, so they get paid out

you cant have an individulal smoking room as someone has to go in and clean it (back to sqaure one)

as a nonsmoker i dont mind, but i also didnt mind pubs and resteraunts having smoking and non smoking area's, but its not me the new law is protecting its the people that make a living from working in these places where smoke is a plenty

how does ireland and scotland get on with it, anyone really know??????

ive noticed lately that a ot of people have already started to smoke outside on their own accord, i suppose if they have a choice and do it themsleves then they are ok in my eye's

as for stopping binge drinker's, who are they hurting but themselve's, ive cut the drinking down to a minimun as it was doing me no favour's menatlly and physically, but i do still like a drink

think ive said enough for now lol

Yup, credit card type thing where you're allowed...... 1 and a half pints FFS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! **** it, drinking at home is cheaper anyway - are they gonna ban buying a crate of stella?

wont be able to go for a 5hit soon, without someone checking you are wiping your ar5e!!

I just wonder if everyone does stop smoking because of this wonderful ban put upon us by our wonderful government, where the extra revenue lost will be regained from, and whether the anti smoking brigade will be so anti smoking then, im also assuming that they drive electric cars, because god forbid all the obnoxious gases their cars are putting into the environment that we in turn are all breathing in!!

Im all for a smoking ban in restaraunts and having non smoking rooms in pubs and would be glad to see such measures being taken to make it a more pleasent place for all, what i object to is hypocracy and being dictated to.

Here's one then, my house is the registered address for my company so in theory it is a place of work. I'd like to see them try and enforce a smoking ban in my house :wack:

I believe that after a slight lull in trade in scotland and ireland its now gone from strength to strength and it will do over here as well, yes it may drive out the smokers who wont obey the law but in their place will be the people who have stayed away because of the smokers :)

this is pubs i'm talking about.

lets face it smoking IS anti social and shouldnt be subjected to people who dont smoke so everyone should embrace it rather than slag it off, no ones saying you cant do your smelly/bad for your health/expensive habit LOL

and if i catch someone breaking the law it wont be me with 2 black eyes but that person may have be able to start smoking out of their ass once i shove the fags and lighter well and truely up there :D

What about the 300zx.co.uk tent at billing then? :x:

its the same with most of the bull5hit laws they come out with, its all down to public demand. they banned handguns because of dunblane as the do gooders thought it would stop shootings, well has it ? NO, its now worse than ever, and in th process ruined a sport for 1000s of genuine people. now with this smoking ban in public/enclosed places, its all dow to your do gooders and mrs castle. they are not happy with a compromise such as smoking pubs or non smoking pubs, they have to be greedy fookers and ban it in all. mrs castle wasnt complaining with the money she was getting at the time though, was she, NO. anyway, i need to go for a fag outside now and calm down. :headvswal

I'll be PMSL at all the non smokers sat inside the pub looking like billy no mates with no one to talk to

thats always been my bone of contention, im a smoker and i fully empathise with the non smokers finding my cigarette smoke offensive and demanding they are not subjected to it. I am more than happy to go to a smoking area and enjoy a smoke there, why should they suffer it, why should some ill mannered pig be allowed to smoke whilst people are trying to enjoy a meal, its wrong and anti social.

However, thats not good enough is it, the fact that they are no longer hindered by my smoking, no they demand that its banned throughout all pubs, places of work etc.

Do you know who i feel sorry, for the old timers, the war veterans that fought for the rights of this country, who in the winter of their lives are now forbidden from enjoying probably the only things they have left, and after all these years just taking away their rights to enjoy a fag and pint in the social club with their mates, im sorry i think it stinks worse than my fag smoke!!

Andy has a good point about his house???????

I work on the railways and unless you are at a station or in a tunnel I am classed as being outside. If they start an arguement about it being a workplace then will I have the right to question the law about the legal temperature of a workplace during winter when its 5 below zero and my balls have started to creap up into my belly and its too cold to hold a screwdriver ??? Or when its pissing down with rain and my waterproofs have failed to keep the rain out and my balls have started to creap down my legs trying to seek cover in my nice dry boots ???

As you can see......I have problems with my balls whilst at work sometimes.

Yeah they will....the Bar Staff.
