Best trick I use for getting bugs off my helment visor without scatching it is to lay a towel soaked in hot water over it for about 5 minutes. They just wipe right off!

Mine just wash off. I keep my car polished and sealed with a good wax and with a good car shampoo and good washmit, they require almost no elbow grease at all.

i use Meguiars car wash and there wax, but the bugs are still a nightmare to get off, bloody white cars lol

maybe i need more wax , what wax do you use si?

Baring in mind I had the new paint detailed after I had it resprayed. The top coat was brought up to mirror gloss finish and I just maintain it with Meguires deep crystal polish and then AG Gold class sealant on top. Rarely need to apply it to be honest.

But flies that get stuck to my car rarely stay on there for a few days or more before getting washed off, add to the fact that the car lives under cover always, even when it's nice. So nothing gets baked onto the paint.

i'll have to look into waxes, i've just got the standar Meguiars waz and that purple pad

Like Marco I ride bikes and they seem to suffer worse than cars.

Soaking with damp rags / kitchen paper works well.

There are special insect removing products - Autoglym and GP Products both do them for example.

A clay bar would get rid of the stubborn bits that remain after a normal wash.

I'd recommend the soaking with wet rags though - Like Marco said. It works well and won't strip wax off.

Depends where in the UK you live. If I ever drive home to see my parents in the summer, mine gets far worse than that!! It's what the low lying areas of the Somerset levels does for you.

Yep, mine gets worse than that too! I like to look through a clean windscreen, but anything over 50 mph and they start splatting right in your eye line, washers/wipers just smears them in worse!

I bought a tub of bug wipes from Halfruads. I just keep it in the boot, and use them before I wash her, they work a treat!

I have a lambswool wash mit with Bug Removed on the reverse. Only £9 from ebay and eradicates any risk of scratching the paint work that you get with a sponge.

you could always leave the bugs on and paint over them...white car no prob...here's a cheap solution for you :mac1:

Likewise........

........I polish all of my cars every 3 months with Turtle Wax Extreme and the silicone formula stops the dead bugs sticking to the paintwork. They easily wash of during regular cleaning :D

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

i always soaked my rags in water and car shampoo as it helps to stop the water evaporating so quickly and gives it more chance to soften them up

i had a suzuki swift that was white the missus used wire wool and nitromors to get the flies off when she borrowed it ......result new bumper and bonnet needed

warm towel works a treat
