Yes they do work at detecting Lazers. The will defuse the signal and stop them getting a reading. You have about 5 seconds to slow down and switch it of so they can get a reading or they'll know what your doing and pull you for obstructing the Police in the line of an enquirey.

6 point and a big fine if they make it stick.

Of cousre I have these for my up an over Garage and may accidently knock iy on. however as soon as it alarms me of a signal I switch it off.

They are not illegal

I have a Snooper S5 which is about 3 yeras old so there are newer ones but it works great at detecting speed cameras (you get about 400 - 500 M warning in traffic and about 200M if your on your own, the signal bounces off the back of the cars in front). You soon become very confident at blasting through cameras!!. However, the band type on automatic doors on supermarkets etc. is the same as a speed camera so in town it's going off all the time. This does keep you alert though!. It also works great with the speed gun, you get about 1000M notice. It does not work with some mobile cameras and of course the calibrated speedo of a chasing squad car but I have had no points (touch wood) since I bought mine.

I'm sure you can get a more modern one off the website above. Let me know how you get on because I might change mine.

Ignore that Simon chap, his glass is half empty

Cheers.

I think you are talking about the lazer jammers. They are deffo illegal. You can be done for obstructing an officer in the line of his duty.

He wants to know about detectors.

Yep your right. My Dyslexia means I often reads things completely different to what is actually written :headvswal .

Any good Snooper type device will pickthem up, but may also pickup automatic doors and vehical counters on certain types of traffic lights.

I have a Snooper Neo 6 and it goes of every time I go down the A483 as you go past the retail park, because of all the automatic doors.

I've got one - Snooper S4 IIRC.

I've only been past one laser operated trap - one of those camera vans.

It didn't go off but they might not have been set up and using the laser when I passed it. I certainly didn't get a ticket either.

Um I have a Road Angel, it does pick lazers up but it only works when a lazer is pointed at the car, and so by that point you have probably already been caught anyway

Apologies, I was getting confused with laser jammers.

Why does everyone keep calling them 'Lazer'?

PMSL! Even the yanks don't spell it like that. Actually it's not really to do with spelling. Laser is in actual fact an acronym for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation. If you want to spell it 'ztimulation' for Zed purposes then it 'could' work. lol

Laser detectors are pretty useless as in most cases if you pick up a laser signal they have already got your speed.

Only time it will work is if they're scanning the car directly in front, in which case they probably aren't going to point it at you anyway.

I'd use a jammer but as has been said, you need to slow down quick and switch it off before they realise you are using one.

Si, you are a wealth of information dude lol

ive been told that if you have an electric garage door opener fob thing and point it at a mobile camera it will confuse the signal and the camera wont be able to get a reading ...never had the guts to try it tho

I'd like to see how quick on the draw you are with your garage door opener as you approach a copper at 100mph LOL

The main point of it Chris is so they only get you doing 20 mph above the speed limit, instead of 50 or 60. Not that I advocate such speeds anywhere unless you have a clear field of vision for a mile or so. In which case you see any danger (including Speed traps) well in advance and slow down.

Only time it has gone off on me (NO Thats a different story :slap:  ) is when I was doing about 40 in a 30. You all now the areas that have sprung up everywhere where the national speed limit used to drop to 40 for a mile or 2 before going to 30 as you entre the built up areas. Now known as speed trap allys.
