Put my new Series 2 Climate Control Unit into my car yesterday and im not sure if its working correctly. I had a Series 1 unit, so i just plug in the series 2 unit everything lights up properly and the A/C works but what does the Mode Function mean and whats the fan symbol mean/Do when activated??

I did find out that it has a auto cycle though but im sure i should be able to adjust my own air vent directions and adjust the fan speed.

Can anyone help??

You need the Series 2 Climate control AMP ECU as well. Its located under the dashboard on drivers side up under the footwell.

Cheers thanx mate.

So is it just plug and play then with this? You don't need to change any of the trunking, motor blower solenoids etc?

Hi Si,

Yes, it's plug-n-pray. Change the ECU (difficult to get at and a real back killer as you need to lie upside down with your back on the edge of the seat/sill and your head by the clutch pedal) and then the pod on the dash and you should be good to go! I did this to my car about two years ago and it worked a treat. However, I have heard that some people have not been so lucky with the conversion and had to revert back to S1 unit & ECU. Have no idea why it would work on some cars and not on others though.

Regards,

Dan

I'm not sure I'd want to lose my 'high' and 'low' settings for a still-mostly-ecu-controlled direction setting...

Now the manual pod... now you're talking! (I know its impossible)

Visually looks like you're taking a step back with that thing. Gimmie the digital one any day!

where did you source these? im interested but they seem quite rare

I got these off someone who was breaking his Zed. I think there are a few people breaking S2 cars at the moment but your best bet is probably AndyZ.

I agree with that, why didnt they make a digital one we could manually control properly...

Well i did want the the series 2 C/C unit as i want to put asll the improvement parts the z32 series had in the 10 yrts they were being produced. I got these from a Zed Specalists Workshop in Australia but i didnt know i needed the Amp ECU so atm im still trying to source the ECU in australia.

I think the new features on the S2 unit are better as u can select whether u want to warm up ir feet or face or both as well as having 4 fan speed settings. If i can get one from the uk it doesnt bother me, i just want it. Ill post a item wanted thread but if anyone is has a s2 Amp ECU for sale please pm me.

Don't see where you're coming from? You can control the direction properly! That's the whole reason I changed mine over (Cheers Danny  :duffer: )

It's just a combination of presing the button, or just leave it down to theecu to do it for you. In fact I really only change mine when I want extra warm toes in the winter, or Karens in the car, but then she always complains she's cold anyway
