can anybody point me in the direction of a thread describing how to correct my odometer .had to change my clocks as ive killed my originals whilst fitting indiglo dials.the trouble is my car had 130000 or so clocked up and the replacements got 68000 which wont tally up with my recent mot certificate.

PS: AFOAF claims to have cossetted an original 1600E for years and so, when selling it on felt the mileage didn't truly reflect the actual value as it was in tiptop condition. So he got the speedo out for a spot of reverse action with the Black and Decker only to find a sticker on the back which had scrawled on it

Oh no, not again.

imho photographic evidence of the swap-over and current instalation of the new clocks clipped to this years m. o. t would be more credible to the next owner instead of clock tampering and allso risking damaging the dials ;)

As far as I'm aware, (and I'd love to be corrected, as I know I'm right :D )the odometer is separate from the rev counter or speedo! So why not just place the new speedo etc into the old housing leaving the old odometer in place?

See problem solved.... Unless you're going to say that you've actually damaged the odometer while fitting your new dial faces, in which case "How the hell did you manage that?"
