I'm going to get my cracked windscreen looked at.

Looks like my insurance will pay for a repair or replacement (less £60 excess if it needs replacing).

I remember reading the glass is a different colour on imports and UK cars. Mine's an import - any idea how the glass differs so I can make sure they fit the right sort if needed.

Cheers!

iirc uk spec has blue tints and jdm has brown tints... im sure sum1 will clarify shortly :)

Get a piece of white paper, open the door and place the paper behind the glass. You'll soon tell weather it is Blue Bronze or Green tint.

I have just had my front and rear replaced and was asked by auto glass which tint it was. According to Nissan the UK models came mainly with blue or green, but some early cars had the Bronze. Most Jspec cars I've seen are bronze though some of the 1996 Jspec cars I've seen have the blue.

just had my back rubbers done after the smash up... and the jap ones are bronze the matey at national mobile windscreens was telling me... (he used to have a zed too!!)

I work in the windscreen industry and all jap specs are bronze with possibly a blue top tint. If they are ordering a new one you must make sure you tell them that you want a genuine nissan glass as any other none genuine glass sourced from the uk will be blue.

Also you want to make sure they order new windscreen trims at the same time cos its highly unlikely they will be saveable...

Not when the rest of your glass is bronze it doesnt

I'd go for the Blue tint, wether or not you have Jap or UK...it looks much better!

i had a smashed windscreen wont explain why lol

Anyway contacted a window company who wanted £1200 for a j-spec windscreen which indeed is bronze

asked for a uk variation with blue/blue tint £200 fitted :)

also looks better than brown

I would'mt say you notice the difference between front and side, have seen lots with it changed, and definatly looks better with blue windscreen.

Yeah i agree they look better with blue glass, and i know must people wouldnt notice the difference but personally i would ( probably due to my job )

Well, having insured a car and a motorbike for 15 years and never claimed on 30 years worth of premiums, Ensign can cough up for the OE Japanese glass. Even if it is £1200.

Cheers for the info chaps.

:duffer:

And so they should with the amount we pay :D

go for the blue then have the side windows lightly blacked out then who would know the difference, just an idea

I had my front and rear screens replaced and it cost me £60. Both Genuine Nissan UK blue/blue on my insurance. Front had a chip in the drivers wiper ark and legally should be replaced though most MOT garages wouldn't notice a repare and rear screen replaced because the heater element wasn't working. All brand new trim. Couldn't believe how much brighter it is.

Had mine replaced last year. Autoglass did it through insurance, told them it was an import etc. Turned up and took old glass out and went to fit green tint one!!!. Im went mad!

Told them to get correct one. did not bring trims either? ****ers and this was after waiting two days for them source parts. Anyway had to put car in garage and wait for 10 days for correct glass and trim. Good old NU direct had to pay the £900 and a hire car for the 10 days, only an Astra though.

If you go through insurance make sure you tell them It is definitly Bronze and you need the trims done at the same time as all bonded together.
