A stone hit me windscreen today - and cracked it.

It's a star shaped crack about the size of a 2p in the wipers 'swept area'.

Any idea where to get it repaired? And idea what a repair like that costs?

Cheers folks. :duffer:

I guess you mean star shaped!

Are you fully comp, your insurance should cover it.

Oops, yes, 'star'

I'm fully comp but if I can get it done for under £50 there's something to be said for not involving the insurance company.

If you draw an imaginary line up from the steering wheel you are allowed a mark no bigger than a 5p, if its anywhere else on the screen it can be as big as a 10p.

You have to at least get it repaired, chances are youll still see a mark but at least it will stop it creeping.

Paying cash a repair will cost you about £40 but id give your insurance a go first you cant lose your no claims for glass.

Cheers mate, I'll give them a try then. :duffer:

if it is just a repair then normally most glass places do it for free on fully comp insurance and it won't affect your premium, if it is needing replaced then cough the £50 to the insurance as it will set you back £1000+ to get a new windscreen and get it fitted. I know I had one done 2 months ago.

yeah what they said but make sure you check the black trims around the window before you leave cos if they damage these it can get expensive as if they are faded you'll have to buy the lot so they match colour.
