i handed my Z to ZWorX for a PCV swap and compression test (been getting blue smoke more and more recently :( ) and the results came back ranging from 120 to 140 although i dont know which cylinders are which. ive driven her for about 60 miles since the PCV swap and the smoking problem is all but gone (from two 30-mile long journeys i only got one puff of blue smoke near the end of each under decelleration whereas it used to be on and off nearly all the time, idle, acc. dec. you name it) but im not breathing a sigh of relief at all yet. car's done about 90,000 miles.

Mickey told me that the turbos are slow to spool up which I agree with - Ive not been happy with the performance of my Z for a few months now at least and with the mods ive had done ive ironed out most problems (eg. my old clutch was crap so i have a brand new RPS in, new zorst, new Profec E01, etc.). the bottom end has recently been rebuilt too, along with VVT springs. and Mick thinks that injector 1 is faulty. ive been quoted a realistic price for engine rebuild and turbo refurb with 360 degree b/bs. question is, is it worth spending the money? [a very generalised question but i want to know people's thoughts]

mate in 2006 micky fitted two new turbos to my zed again they were the 360 degre b/b variety along with several other parts the car has never driven so well i would totaly recomend having the work done it will give the car a whole ne lease of life mate

do it, you'll only wish you had if you dont!

Dave, you have already spent alot of time and money getting your zed to how you want it... if you were to sell it with compression problems you would get next to nothing... then you would have to find and buy another 1 that was a solid replacement to start over again! The extra money you will have to spend on top of what ul get for yours, wont be far off your engine rebuild, especially when you take into account the things you will want to do to it to match up to yours. And then even after all that, you wouldnt have a freshly rebuild motor!

if your car is solid structurally and you are happy with all the mods that are on it, id say its worth getting the engine rebuilt. i sold mine and bought another as it needed far too much money spending on it to repair it 'properly' and with it being a uk model there was hidden rust everywhere and it was coming up to 130k!

unless of course your talking about getting rid and moving on to sumthing else, in which case its a matter of taste. if your anything like me, whatever you get, youll want to mod... so if you buy sumthing towards the higher end of the budget you may not be able to. the zed atm is a hell of a lot of car for the money.

My only contribution is make sure you can afford to do it first.

I know that you're not a stupid bloke and you will come to the right conclusion. You want new tubs! :wack:
