Had my alarm fitted yesterday

v happy poppers work off the alarm and everything is now safe and secure....

however, the remote start works, but only 50% of the time, what i mean is it works but the crank time doesn't seam to be long enough, the car turns over but doesn't always catch, i've got .3, .8 and 1 second settings, even on the 1 second one, when the car is cold it dose not want to play, anybody else had this prob, and how'd you get round it? A bigger batt? would that help at all??

Cheers

Neil

I had the same problem, but seemed to sort itself out once I cleaned the Throttle boddies.

Not sure this will help, but it solved my cranking problems.

What make of Alarm is that ? Most Remote start alarms take a signal, either from your RPM or Coils so that they know when the car has started, then it stops trying to start car.

It's a falcon Preditor evo 4+, when the engineer was her yesturday, it's in the .3 second that wasn't long enough, so tried the .8 and it only just caught, so put it on the 1 second one, i'm not sure if it's connected to the the coil or the RPM but it's 1 of them, so it should make a difference?

I'll have to look to see if there is an option to increase the RPM at which the alarm stops trying to start the car. got to set up all the options anyway today.

The engineer had probs with the popper kit and getting it to do what i wanted it to do. bless him, he turned up at about 9.45 and left at about 7.30..... fooking earned his money yesterday i tell you. lol

Oh mate your insurance company are gonna love you NOT.

They hate the remote start and turbo timer, will try and tell you now that your car is unsafe, and far more venerable to being stolen.

All the best mate

No door handles and the doors don't open from the buttons on the car while the engine is running, it's also still fully armed whilst in engine start mode, as soon as you release the hand brake without the key in the ignition the engine dies..... only way to open the door is via the remote!

No turbo time yet........ soon though. lol

How mystic :) CRC dropped my Zed off at Zedworld on Tuesday now shes all painted so that Jeff could fit the air ride suspension, anyways I had Falcon down there fitting my alarm too. I opted for the FULL GSM alarm system, pretty snazzy :) No probs so far with the remote start, takes 5 seconds to kick in and shes running.. Oh and this guy didn't hang about cos he had it all fitted and running in 4 hours

Good luck!

wouldnt worry m8, remote start DOES NOT effect insurance validity, turbo timer is a different matter

Tell that to our old insurance company. I know it shouldn't but some of them have no idea how these things work

Darkside does your's have the 13 digit touch pad on the windscreen incase the keyfob gets damaged so you can still get into the car and drive it?

No it's got the pager sender thingy on the window, but fitted a emergency boot release cable under the car so should the batt go flat i can still get into the car

The remote has 4 buttons and then a combinations of buttons to do pretty much everything, still playing with it at the moment.

Sounds good, so does it page you and tell you what's going on with the car, like the one we have on the REX.

I've not done the Zed yet as the insurance people are complaining it's not an approved one, put in by and approved alarm fitter.

Yep press button 2 and 4 together and it'll tell me if the cars locked if any tampering has gone on and how long till the next engine start cycle! i've got it set up to start every 6 hours and run for 10 mins as i work away all week and only home 1 day a week, so i always know my batt is charged up  and it keeps everything moving around, will have to look into the instructions about the immob though, and what if the remote gets knackered, i've got another remote but it's not a pager one, but think i can pick up another pager one for about £50. so not too expensive really.

Smithy the only reason it took the poor man so long was the popper kits, working out where to put them and to get them to work, as the throw in the solenoid was long enough for the Zed, as the Zed requires a long throw to get the door open!

Did you get my pm.

I think I have the Clifford Avantard or something, has remote start and all the extras including blackjack, but it's been almost 3 years since I started the engine and I don't have a clue what the bloody code is.. Fun times ahead !!! not.

Are you sure that remote start doesn't affect the insurance. I'm sure when I listed the alarm they said that BlackJack was good but remote start was very bad.
