..on my decision to sell the Zed.

my old zed looked the part imo, it looked clean and ran ok. however, underneath it was rotten, the sills were rotting through, the tub seals were shot, there were annoying little patches of rust coming through on the bodywork, it squeaked and rattled were interior trim had broken etc... and most of all, it was an auto. i originally decided i would blow a load of money rectifying these problems (somewhere in the region of 5k). instead i sold it for 1600 notes... :smash:

the 1600 notes together with the 5k then gave me a particularly sizable pot to buy a new zed with. Lee of Import-ance had 1 that he had freshly imported and met nearly all my criteria... so i bought it... less than a week after i sold my other 1!

its only done 59k miles which has more than halved the mileage of my old 1, underneath it is absolutely spotless, its a manual, all the trim is still very tight and solid, its boosting normal pressure (feels a hell of alot faster) and its so much nicer to drive.

it has cost me a few tanks of fuel over 4k and is a tenfold improvement on my 1st zed. so i have saved nearly 3 thousand quid by selling up and buying a manual tt without the 15yrs of uk roads damage, the bonus of lower miles and a summer of driving a fully serviceable zed rather than limping along!

this is an individual case for me but for all those people contemplating a manual conversion and have or suspect more problems that would cost alot of muller, this is definately the way to go. no doubt the saved 3k will get zapped fairly quickly on maintenace and servicing over a period of time but i now believe i have a great base model to re-start my zedding furture with.

Overall, this is a very clean and solid UK example that has been very well looked after.

LOLness!

for a uk model (overall :p ) it was! i didnt think it was too bad for a 15yr old car tbh but this new one proved that wrong... it does make what i thought was a reasonable car look like a mess. the guy who bought my car was a trader and apparently knew what he was looking for.

im also using it to convince myself that it was the right thing to do as it was a hard thing to do watching some1 else drive away in your pride and joy, so i convince myself that my old one was the worst car money can buy and it makes me feel better.

have i escaped from my hole or am i still diggin ;)

As the old saying goes 'You can't polish a turd' so spending 5K on a tatty Zed would have been daft. Glad you've got a nice clean example sorted for yourself, well done fella.

Heh heh, you didn't really mate!!

I'm always looking out for another ZX but after driving mine around all day yesterday I still love it to bits, so who knows??

I may just replace the SLK instead - convertible 350z in black looks nice....ARGH!!!
