I'e checked boost leak and it's appear that i loose pressure on the oil pan. I need to remove it and to add more join.

But i don't feel like this is the reason why i can't boost more than 0.62 bar.

I use a Profec B and even in mode B (1.0bar), i stay at 0.62 maximum.

Any idea?

leaking from the oil pan??? you would need serious blow by on the rings/bores for that to happen?!? what makes you think that??

are you sure its not a wastegate issue?

i forgot to mention that i have one air intake on each side (where the SMIC were located before).

When i do the test, i have to block the other side or air is coming out this other side.

Then i can't get pressure, i hear a leak. And i'm 100% sure the leak is located on the oil pan. The seal between the oil pan and the block is leaking.

I should also mention I reroute the PCV valve, so should I removed them and plug them for the boost leak test?

When you do a boost leak, If you pull the oil stick, don't you lose all the pressure? (I've asked on TTnet month earlier and i've been told it's normal), isn't it?

what are the wastegate adjustors set to?? if there out then it would just boost to the set boost on the springs which may be 0.6 bar spring? also have you got the wastegate pipework the right way ie pull and push to the boost controller?

oh and if you are losing pressure in the oil pan then you have possibly blown the crank seal which is an engine out job again :(

how much pressure do you use to check for (boost) leaks ?

how did you reroute the PCVs ? almost sounds like you've rerouted it a bit wrong or in such a way that pressure from the intake is able to flow to pressurize the crankcase as well.

if that's the case, then I hope you haven't blown any seals out yet.

IIRC you are still running the engine in, so you will get pressure escaping past the rings!

i always thought than within a few minutes of the first start up the rings bed in and seal so its the most important time hence why most say rev the car to around 3000 revs on first start up for 3 or 4 mins??

Yes but he has been running it in on fully synthetic and this may have stopped it bedding in properly!

ahhh well once you dont bed them in right you cant go back so it may need new rings and to start all over again!!

i hope not but it does sound like it :(

Sounds like the boost controller pipework is wrong to be honest. It's different for internal/external wastegates ;)

wonder if he has the BC set to external? theres usually a switch on it somewhere to change it?

i think he main problem is if he has pressurised his bottom end (ohh err) and its leaking then he has blown something, most likely his crank seal which is what i did on mine :( and you i believe duffers LOL ;)

dont see how blow by will make nearly half a bar difference? i thought the tubs would just spin faster to get the right pressure? sounds like BC spring pressure or something else wrong to me. even on stock turbo's and 2 cracked pistons i still got 1.3-bar (engine was dead so i didnt care).

this is an ansers from a member on australian forum:

M8, been through this many times before. You can't do a proper boost leak check untill you block the hoses that go from the inlet cam covers to the turbo inlet pipes. With them connected you are charging the crankcase, which is bad, and the leaks from the dipstick, oil filler etc mask the actual boost leaks. With them removed and plugged you can put in safely 16-20 psi and really find the leaks. For a boost leak test separate the intake from the crankcase and test the intake system only. Takes more time, but IT WORKS

the things is i haven't put pressure at all on the engine, not even 1 psi. It's leaking to much !!! Pressure is not buiding up at all.

Also, i did the first 200kms with 10w40 semi synthtic oil, then i changed for the synthetic one so maybe it's not wrong.

I never heard about different settings of the Probec B for a external wastegate but maybe that is the answer. I will look onto this :)

From the instructions I posted in the link there is no setting on the unit itself for external WG - just the solenoid valve plumbed differently ;)
