do you realise the work involved in converting an n/a zx to a tt zx?

if you did i dont think you would be asking this question! ultimately, if you want a tt zx with upgraded tubs, either buy a tt zx with upgraded tubs or buy one with stock tubs and upgrade them :) you cant simply bolt on upgraded tubs to an na zx

hth

Joel

Yes you can ;)

within reason :p

if i was you fella, i would go one way or the other NA/TT

ultimetly though your going to choose one or the other, as it makes no sense to buy an NA to TT it unless for instance its a rare slicktop/convertible for eg.

put it this way if you buy an na and spend £1000 on it you will get about 250bhp

if you get a tt and spend £1000 on it you will be closer to 400bhp

choice is yours really

in my books thats "nuff said" :)

costs of converying an n/a to tt are very high. better to buy a decent tt and use the money to mod it. to be fair an n/a is pretty quick (i think so anyway  ) and from what i've heard quite a bit more reliable than tt's.

Well theres your answer bud! :D Welcome to the club, no nonsense, just straight talking!! ;)

cheers peeps. just ive got quite a bit to spend on it and i don't wanna screw it up. i'l prob buy a TT in not exactly good condition and just uprate everything. theres my project set for the summer.....

TT all the way!!

Welcome to the nut house.

Where abouts in watford are you? I'm only up th road.

You might want to come along to a local meet one weekend and have a look at the difference. You never know some kind souls might even take you out for a quick spin. (Not literally I hope) But if it's wozzer it will probably be several quick spins.

You will be able to chat to some of the guys that way and get a fel for whats possible.

Watch the south east section for the next one sure there will be one organised soon. They are a bit like buses.

There are usually some good cars o be had in the for sale section on the forum that you might also like to look at.

Good luck with whichever way you decide to go.

Darrell

buy mine and don't uprate anything and you can just drive it in the summer and enjoy it rather than repair a dog.

Hi Pure Power,

I've had my TT now 2 weeks,

I had to make the decision between a N/A or TT when I was looking for my Z...................Very pleased I chose the TT...........I'm also in Watford, you are welcome to come and see my Z and we will take her out for a little spin :-)

Nathan

hi mate if you get a N/a cheap enough like i have then a t/t conversion is very possible it all depends on what you want the car todo,

If you just want to drive around a look flash then just get a standard n/a or t/t

if you want to get into drifting then buy an N/a and convert, Most people buy the T/t for its power and think it will make a great drift car, which they do but your going to be very hard pushed to get a standard t/t to drft due to the Hicas ( rear wheel steering) dont get me wrong with enough balls and push they will go, so what most drft t/ts do is eliminate the hicas but this still leaves the car a little unresopsive when cornering due to the slack front steering rack, (which the hicas makes up for) So most t/t owners swap the rear subframe for the lighter n/a rear subframe and the for more positive N/a steering rack. But doing this also leads to a few mis matched parts that needs to be swapped,

what i'm planning on is rebuilding a t/t engine and drop it into my N/a as i only paid £950 for it in the first place i dont feel that the converson is going to be to much cost ok you still have to add bits from a t/t to the engine bay like your intercoolers and a new rad and oil coolers plus all the piping but it seems more logcal to me to spend the time rebuilding and upgrading a t/t engine and still having a drivable car until that weekend when you have sourced all the parts, and booked a weekend of from the family or work and just crack on with the conversoin where as doing it the other way round could see the car off the road for weeks cus you did not have the cash to buy those upgrade copper vavle liners that you desperatly need

hope you find this usefull

Its a LOT easier to get the back end out on a TT, over an NA...and the Hicas makes very little difference...but can be bypassed with a Hicas eliminator easily (Hicas only give a max of 1degree movement, and only between certain speeds). Although an NA can be easier to hold on the limit with its lower and more progressive power.

TT front steering is not "slack", its the same as the NA rack. 2.7 turns from lock to lock.

The U.S market did however get a faster steering rack than the rest of the world, with a 2.5 turns lock to lock setup.

ok point taken about the rack but you still do have to bare in mind when it comes to drift the lighter the better hence why you swap to the N/a rear rather than just eliminate the hicas which also leads to a problem with what happens when a eliminator bar lets go under the extreme pressure of Acceleration and going side ways, i have done extensive research into this as i plan to get into drifting, the other advantge is that when rebuilding a tt you know exactly what condition the engine is in and how much you can push it, most people think that 400hp is the best u can go with a tt but thats not true you can push the block right upto 1000 bhp but obviously your car would no longer be tamed on the public highway let alone pass an mot emissions test.

ok so ive not had my zed long but a good read and alot of research can go a very long way

Take a look at http://www.z1motorsport.com everything you need is right there (thats parts that is)
