:headvswal right guys need nelp - my matrix has not been bypassed and is not leaking but i still get no heat from blowers - car temp seems to be ok / normal temp gauge always sits about half way or there abouts and the added gauge never goes above 100c have changed switch pod twice so not that and im lost ???

ive noticed that the added water gauge jumps sometimes will go from 40c to 80c in one big jump - not sure if gauge is faulty or this is normal have a new one in post anyway so will se soon please help cheers guys :headvswal

see now im getting worried is my car overheating im so lost ?? normal gauge slowly goes up and sits at half way - but added gauge does go above 100c nearly gets to 110c sometimes but water seems ok i can take cap off and no boiling over strange - oil temp stays about 80 and pressure is good :headvswal

dont want to be the bearer of bad news bud but when chris had that car and not long before he sold it was bypassed then, are you 100% its not bypassed

Temp up but you can take the cap off??-Either the system aint' pressurising

or it's air-locked,think I'd try a new cap first.

If that as no effect then get the system pressure tested. :)

matrix is classic for air locks...im sure tony checked it was still connected up a few weeks back...that said if the pipes are folding because they are too soft or pinched as they are the wrong length that could do it too...happened on my zed someone had replaced the pipe with an odd length which was pinching off the flow

no ive checked again it is bypassed - my bad

so back to the other issue why would it be low pressured -water pump???

or could it just be an airlock like i say the standard temp gauge reads ok just the cheap auto gauge one reads up to 110c but when its reading this the water isnt boiling !!!

yep thought it was bud, did mr nolan tell you :(

 no mr nolan didnt :headvswal

:nono: :nono: you better not do any interior work till its fixed then :(

"getgreddy" what can one say

so ok then i only have one fan which is the big main one - have a alloy high flow rad thats it !!!

standard temp gauge rises slowly and then stays around the half way mark give or take !!

auto gauge water temp gauge does nothing for a wile then jumps to about 70c then straight to about 105-110c and then just sits there no more not really any less

but water is not boiling ???

what are people talking about other fans

the matrix can stay broke i dont care dont use car alot anyway and i got quite a good plug in one from ebay :)

sciency bit....your water wont boil at 100c when under pressure...even more so with coolant added...so no worries there...the flow or rather the convection is crucial to aviod hotspots...the pump just mixes things up a little...the main flow is done by cooling/rad/fan....a really well flushed system is the best starting point...but dont just blast your rad out with a hose as you can jam bits into the fine water channels...there is a link on here about all things cooling...cant find it right now

also what should i be running in the system i think its just water at the moment with a small amount of

ive been reading about long life coolant - pink stuff ???

i dont want anything corrosive in there either

any links with exactly what i should buy thanks

well unfortunately with cooling heating probs it can be lots of things..there was an overheating a to z posted here once...but lost the link...a stuck stat will cause over heating at any speed
