As above really? As I've stated before the real effect can only be achieved through replacing BOTH the valves AND the hoses, so please only post if this was the case. If you vote can you please state the symptoms before and after (after 200 miles have been covered) so we can try and build up some kind of idea on what can and can't be cured by replacing the PCV system.

Please NO posts about catch cans or how shit the PCV system is.

OR any posts about smoking tobacco/drugs etc ;)

Cheers,

Andy

Just replied in the other thread Andy, You decatted and fitted divorced wastegate pipes (amungst other things) and also replaced my PCV valves and all hoses although I do get a bit of smoke on idle from drivers side after a run and stop at lights junction etc

Ditto for me!

mine started to smoke a little end of last summer, thought ide soak em in petrol for a couple of days till they rattled nice and clean sounding and ive only drove it a couple hundred miles since last summer but no smoke :hyper: so yes it worked for me in a fashion

Mine usually last a couple hundred miles or so and start to fill up again, used to replace, just clean em out now... thinking of changing for different model of PCV valves. Higher than normal crankcase pressure will bung up the pcv valves quicker than normal, however Nissan valves are not all the same and there some that "may" last longer for problematic Zeds, as proved on 350Z's suffereing crank case pressure problems.

Have PCV valves and hoses cured your smoking problem

I actually saw a hypnoticed about 4 years ago and haven't smoked since. Though I must admit that using the PCV pipes with the bushes in as a temporay chilum may have worked. :wack:

On my last engine No, it was the ringland (think thats what it's called) that was damaged.

I/ve just bought some from mike feeney and I've notice they are not the spring loaded type so are these wrong will it make a difference??wtf

The ones I got from him have springs in but they do seem pretty loose.

Difficult to tell when comparing with clogged old ones though

Seem to have fixed my smoke problems though and cheap as chips :)

got a set from mike but my hands are to big to replace, so might have to pay some one, but i have a little smoking from both sides at the moment, but she's not getting run so might just be a build up of crap that needs to be blown through.

Neil

Not just Zeds either - my S13 200SX was starting to smoke so thought before replacing the turbo it would be worth cleaning out the PCV valve. Fingers crossed so far no more smoking :D Saved me some cash :D

I want to fit a catch tank and get rid of the PCV's all together.

No way of getting rid of the PCVs - you MUST provide a positive purge of the crankcase to prevent oil contamination!

 who added the "Nicotine Patches" answer

FFS bang this in the off-topic section where it ****ing belongs then  This was a serious post intended to help people. I ****ing give up!!!!!!

Members are told to put posts where they belong yet mods are allowed to flaunt the rules - do as I say not as I do?!?!?!?! I specifically asked for no smoking related answers so that this thread would be a usefull resource. Oh well....

I had problems with smoke last year. I changed the valves and hoses but havent managed to run the car properly yet. Its still smoking like mad but i know theres oil left in the plenum. How far to go Andy(before no smoke). Its bad

Just wondering what grade oil all the smokey Joes are using.

I've been running Mobile 1 0-40 fully synthetic and have just changed to Millers Trackday 10-50 fully synthetic and the problem has gone completely. So i recon that the oil was just too thin and sloshed straight down the rocker vents along the pipes through the PVC's and into the plenum.
