answer to Q3

I have been waiting for a jap import swb door

since 13 october! it arived last week!

But thats Nissan for you!!

lol cheers guys :)

all uk cars are tt, tbar and raf (raf=rusty as fook), mine is a uk tt, oh and they all have leather

Mines UK and no rust at all and it's been my daily drive for 10 years :)

Mines a Uk TT, high mileage Zed. I'm the 3rd owner used as a dayly car since the first owner. When I bought it I thought it would be a bit rusty after all it's 14 years old. When I got it up on axel stands not a hint of rust to be found. Mind you it could do with a respray now. Paints a bit dull in places and the bumpers are scrated by the last owner.

Yours might be rusty StellaZ but mine aint so what you been doing with yours

nope :p some have tweed, but its a slightly differant fabric to the import type :)

mines a UK T bar TT so there is your proof they made them plus it isnt rusty, anymore, only had rust on 1 wheel arch and bit on the seal both on drivers side but previous owner had tail gate repaired due to rust from the rear spoiler soaking up the water as they do, so basically they are pretty solid cars for their age, how many other cars of that age do you see still about with decent body work? Not many.

Answer to Q3 insurance dont like grey imports god knows why tho

Not all UK cars are rusty.......

.....however in the winter we (allegedly  ) salt our roads which plays havoc with the steel from which cars are made. In Japan they use some kind of volcanic ash.

So the upshot is, after 14+ winters in salt or volcanic ash, which car do you think will have faired the best? There you have it!

There are still some UK cars in fine condition but since there are now fewer UKs here than imports they are harder to find.

Richard ;)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

there is a black jap tt down the road from me for sale looks standard except it has red wheels but the interior has been trimmed in black and red leather including all the dash looks ok

email me mate if you like im only in southampton so not far from you ok

rust free mind you a lot of fibreglass on it now lol

yeh hiding it all  ;)

They dont rust any more than any other car...its just the age.

In japan they dont use salts on icey roads, so they have no rust corrosion when they land on our shores. In fact the underenath of most Imports look almost new.

Insurance differences depend on the company...some charge a hefty premium, others very little. The reason for it stems back 10 years ago when imports gained popularity. Dealers would refuse to supply parts for Imported vehicles, or would insist on having to get the parts from japan (even when they stocked the same part for a UK equivelent). Insurers continue to overcharge despite Parts for imports being no different to the Uk models and readily available.

The UK models were only available as 2+2 T-bar Twin turbo, and at least 95% of Z32's are T-bar. The non T-bar, referred to as 'slicktop' is very rare and only available as a SWB.

This is the 4th zed i've owned and none of them have ever showed signs of rust. All were jap imports though, so i can't comment on the UK cars. As Legrath said age is catching up with this generation of z. Have to say it hasn't been a problem , still looks and performs brilliantly for a 16 year old car.

As far as insurance goes I think you just need to shop around. My first zed was a UK car (i.e. rusty) so when I replaced it with an import I was pleasantly suprised to find my insurance premium had almost halved to less than £200

I've seen some real scabby rust buckets both UK and Jap, Worst I've seen was Uk spec. However the cleanest Zed I've ever seen was a black 1990 UK spec too with tweed. It was mint, so if you look they are out there, but they'll cost you more than a Jspec. Mine's UK and had a very small area of rust under the battery tray, but that was sorted.

you need to drive your Zed for it to get Rusty....

LOL - must be why mine's so clean ;) 45,000 miles in 10 years of ownership

I replaced one of the sills last year but aside from that it's in good nick
