If i was to get hold of an engine, Im guessing it doesnt matter roughly what condition it was in.

How much would i be looking at upgrading it and a full rebuild to run 450rwhp?

What bits would i need to buy for this and what would someone charge to do this for me?

So i mean, i supply the engine to someone, they rebuild it with the parts i supplied for the above power and then transplanted it into the car for me.

Im trying to see if it would make sense money wise to do this and just get a mint shell compared to buying one outright.

Thoughts please :D

Best bet there would be to contact one of the guys that have already done it to give the sort of idea at cost of parts, and probably labour. Or contact someone like Mark (Topless) as I'm sure he would help you out.

Some places may not build using your parts, if they fail who pays for rebuild??

Im not sure of the members that have done it dave mate, Do you know someone who has done the above?

Good point about the parts aswell, didnt think of that. I wanted to split the costs up for just the engine rebuild and the cost of parts needed for a increase as i dont know how much or what id need. It makes more sense to get it done alltogether TBH :)

your problem there is that you will go through the 10-12k very fast without too much result, for instance

about 3 zeds ago(maybe 4 now,i've lost count)

i bought a mint slicktop auto from nend(wanted a manual but for the life of me couldnt find a slicktop manual)

heres a cost rundown on what it cost to get it to a reasonable state of tune:

car 4k

manual box plus after market clutch and flywheel bought and fitted 2.1k

boost controller bought and fitted £500

set of toyo proxies £500

chipped ecu £100

blow of valves £400

uprated intercoolers £400

so it cost 8k for a car running 1 bar of boost,if your then looking at retrims etc your money is gone in no time,

buying one done is deffo the way to go,however i'm like you and not very patient, lol

Get hold of Jimmer. You can PM him on Zclub. Experienced engine builder. He rebuilt my VG and is currently doing a 450bhp build on his at the moment.

Whats your number mate?

Says your unavailable mate,

Ill try in a bit :)

ahh, i have no reception in my village. give us a ring tomorrow sometime. dan

One starting point might be to decide on your budget, how reliable you want your car to be and how you enjoy driving it, i.e. top end speed or booting it around country roads?

Sorry mark, completly forgot to call you mate :(

I want the car to be reliable well as reliable as it can be. I dont want the fatest zed as thats not really my game.

Its for road use only, weekend blasts and meets.

As its for road use ill never see over 100mph as i need my licence for my Job but as i deal with speed cameras too i know where they all are pretty much so its for low end speed rather then top end.

I dont really have a budget tbh, Seeing whether this is a better route to take then buying outright as my money doesnt seem to cut it with most peoples cars so weighing up all the options.

For a ball park figure Topless, what sort of cash are we talking, not for mega power, but good acceleration from pretty low down the RPM range, say

ATM I have stock everything apart from, decat, divorced down pipes, powerflow cat back, apexi filter, JDixon chip, 1.2mm boost (MIG) tips and OS Giken clutch and fly ( I know, a bit OTT) ?

BHP predictions accepted LOL

BTW, sorry to hyjack your thread

Paul your turbos and engine will go pop if you continue to run 1.2 bar, give me a ring bud and we can talk. Writing a reply and going through a myriad of interactive questions with enthusiasts can be done a whole lot quicker on the phone than writing a reply with my sausgae like fingers :D

Spongey if you are not going to see more than 100mph you do not need to spend a shedload on turbos/engine/rebuild. You just need to install a richer gears higher ratio diff and enjoy it, I have the same ratio diff and it changes the nature of the car completely, I enjoy it anyway :D

What kind of break are you looking at for those things (which i dont understand) you mentioned?

Thanks for the reply Mark and even more so your concern (it is Mark isnt it lol ?) and LMAO at sausage fingers.

But I aint runing 1.2 Bar, I'm running 1.2 mm boost (MIG welding) tips at roughly 12-13 PSI ish, i guess onmy crappy boost guage

Spongey give me a ring my basic reading and writing ability diminishes rapidly as Paul has noticed :).
