hello gang new to this forum i brought chris@getgreddys z and having a small prob when driving getting a smell of petrol in the cab noticed it for a wile i think its got newish braided fuel lines - not sure any ideas ?? could the smell be coming from the dump valves or could i have a leak or something also does any one know any good garages in or near southampton thanks gang

try tightening up the fuel pipes they are known for this exact problem.

Well done in purchasing a pretty good example, mate of mine tried to buy but couldn't secure at a decent price, if yer don't mind me asking what price range you bought it in ? ( cheeky i know :) )

The most common line that leaks is the one right under the throttle linkage and is about 2ins long, fuel smells arn't always the lines, but certainly a god place to start.

nice car ,, well done!!! as per fuel smells prob loose fuel lines ,check under bonnet for fuel leaking from injectors etc or feul rail whilst its running , i bought new fuel lines from halfords fitted them myself prob cured !!

nice buy there mate - a lovely car

 

can you be more specific - does it smell when cold or hot

 

does it smell when outside the car or in

 

does it smell when driving at speed with the windows open?

 

does it have an afr guage - in which case what does it read

 

any smoke from exhaust - in case what colour

 

i'm sure its nothing to worry about

As said prob the fuel lines mate, also check the regulator (little black cylindrical thing attached to the fuel lines, and screwed in between the manifold pipes near the balance bar) as these can go as well and leak.

check fuel lines, if the tail pipes get sooty quickly its running rich in which case thats what the smell will be. This is usually cos the temp sender is giving duff signals. Also check the boot seal, fumes can get in that way.

nice car... i think i drove past you a while ago.... in west end..... sure it was a girl driving tho (maybe i was going mad) but i did go past someone in a blue zed that look similar to the one in the pic! (i was in the white one & waved)

Nice car, got alot of money in it and never missed a beat on the Z Run last year.

 

As others have said just tighten up all the clips and it usually sorts it or replace the clips
