Cars been off the road for 18 months but back driving it again now :)

I never seem to recall it was as bad as it is now, car had Cat Back Exhaust and a Jim Wolf Filter. Now I have added a Mines ECU, lightened crank pulley, lightened flywheel and a bit of extra weight with the bodykit and stuff, lol.

I have been bedding a new clutch in and only been on boost for a few seconds at a time at 12psi low setting with a Profec B ii, and that's a rare occasion (bad weather to blame :( ).

100 miles for £25 and I drive like a grandad, I have a suspect boost leak but Im too busy driving it now and havent had chance to have a propper look at it, would that be a major contributing factor? Or should I just know better by now? Cheers

So thats roughtly 20 miles to the gallon? Thats about right? is this motorway or urban? Bearing in mind fuel prices keep increasing :(

Aside from the fact that your not measuring accurately, the most likely cause is short journeys in cold weather and faulty O2 sensors.

I get about the same with my N/A auto especially round town and short trips. Motorway driving however is a lot better, getting upwards of 300-350 miles to a tankfull.

Andy.

me about that too - 20 quid will do 2 trips to work and back (just) 25 miles each way = 100miles

Cheers lads, its just that I had a few options, I could ditch my dump valves and go back to re-circs cos I'm sure thats whats leaking, or I could have put my UK ecu in for the winter (although I would still use v-power fuel). Would a stock UK ecu be ok for the odd blip of 12psi though? I will investigate the O2 sensors on datascan when I borrow my brothers laptop again, I will have to post up though cos I would'nt know a good reading from a bad one. :o :)

Ive got a mines ecu as well i get about 200 miles to a tank .

I dont think changing the ECU back will help the economy, if anything they give better MPG I've found as long as you're keeping the boost down at this time of year.

What dump valves are they? Probably just need adjusting if they're leaking.

usally when reading 02 sensor readings on conzult,, they stay stable left and right on idle "within a certain limit" its when you rev engine your looking for movement on the needles or bars depending on which one you use , they should move freely and return , if sticking or one only moves then its o2 sensors ! hth, off course the one you use may have numbers rather than bars or graphs etc , looking for numbers to increase and return with revs !

Put it this way - the dump valves were cheap ones :wack: I need to mess with them anyway as the car still occasionally stalls.

I have read somewhere that a mines ecu will alter the timing etc throughout the rev range i.e. not just add more fuel when a higher boost is used?
