Hi,

Is there anyway of making the spare wheel fit with aftermarket brakes? I've used the A.A before when I had a front wheel puncture but have heard of people having problems with roadside people as they should have a spare wheel that fits. Any suggestions? I suppose the tyre inflator in a can is an option?

good point, never even thought about that one :(

you can get the r33 spare which goes over the brembos or the other way is if you get a front puncture then stick a rear wheel on the flat front and stick the spare on the rear ;) hard work but the only way

Generally you just swap yer rear wheel onto the front and put the spare on the rear,a bit of fannying around but obviously it's only a stop gap, and it works :)

I was looking into using a 350Z spare, but they don't seem to fit.

it will fit as its the same offset but obviously its a little too wide so you will get some rubbing on full lock so its a case of being careful if you have to do it :)

Or you could buy some cheap spacers as a get you home trick and depending how much you have to space it out?

Worth doing as I got stuck with a front puncture and the AA wouldn't cover it.

They arranged for a local recovery firm to take me to a tyre dealer (who was shut all bank holiday) and charged me £250 :(

I had 2 cans of tyre inflation foam but it doesn't help when you left the tyre scattered up the road LOL

Lesson learned.

How do I safely know how much of a spacer I can use? How far in does the nut have to go on the thread?

To be truthful vijay I don't know and I suppose it all depends on which brakes you have. The thing is it all depends how far you have to go home and lets face you are not going to speed with the space saver. officially speaking 5mm is the general rule with spacers but that is if you are going to have them permaneantly installed!
