hello people ive been having an intermittent problem

coming home last night came to a roundabout changed down a couple of gears and noticed the clutch was real heavy. got to the round about stiffed in it 1st pulled away and it jac rabbited like a ******* but it ticks over fine...

the problem has one away now but sometimes the clutch gets heavy but not with the crap running

stuck me foot on the clutch without starting...started the car but the pedal didnt sink as quickly as i expected it to ie the same as the brakes do when you first start

so im coming to the conclusion it could be 1 or 2 things...

1 i take it the clutch is the same as the brakes ie it has a non return valve for vacuum pipe and this is leaking/sticking

2 the clutch booster is fecked

any comments would be appreciated

cheers rob

Could be a split hose to the booster or a damaged vac storage tank for the booster? They are located behind the drivers side front wheel arch liner...

cheers andy ill take a look at it i swear the thing knows about the skyline im bringing in and is just trying to piss me off just before i wanna sell it !!!!! sods bloody law or what

Yep I had this, although in my case the clutch servo itself has failed. I just disconnected and blocked the servo vac pipe and live with the heavy clutch. Rargh.

it will be more likely the clutch booster/servo itself. you can do as andy says and check the hose connecting above the master cylinder isent split, or block feed and have no assitance and a real heavy clutch thats fun in heavy traffic  your left leg will look like its been on steroids after a few days

I have the same problem, either a split pipe, vac bottle or dead booster.

Can I ask which pipe is the the servo vac pipe (the one i need to block for now)?

Can anyone tell me where it connects to the engine? is it on the balance bar?

I checked the 300zx manual and it shows how to test the L shaped non return valve to the clutch booster system, this looks the same as the valve just above the brake booster.

I always thought this was for the brakes, but i wait to be corrected!

bump. The one that connects to the left side of the balence bar?

The manual just says to inlet manifold

Seems im talking to myself!

Is this the non return valve for the clutch? L shaped as in the manual.
