!!URGENT!! zed specialists help needed in the London area

Well the saga continues...got the car back yesterday and low and behold as ever there are problems....to me the car is only performing half as well as it should.

Now in fairness to the guy who used it for filming he has put all his trust in a local specialist and they have let him down by doing half a job. He did offer to take it back having dropped it off last night and come back today to have a look at it but I said I'd rather get someone from here to take a look this time.

The car is about half as quick as it was with the knackered tubs and I think the best thing would be a conzult to suss things out. It does smell quite badly of petrol and the after market boost gauge doesn't cross 0 bar....neither does the stock one.

I know its a big ask but I had booked next week off (25th onwards) to spend some time driving the damn thing and was wondering if anybody on here with some know how could take a look on tuesday or wednesday or poss tomorrow evening? I'm not asking for a free lunch the money to pay for the work is ready and waiting its just I really want this car running properly for the first time.

I haven't got a scooby how to check anything myself but am willing to learn if shown.

Many thanks

Rob

PS.spark plugs changed and coil packs checked already

A siezed turbo will give no + boost

an open waste gate will also give no + boost

as would a boost leak on any of the 4 large pipes either coming from the turbos to intercooler or from intercooler to the intake all pipes need to be checked could even be a hole in 1 of the intercoolers or a leak on the balance bar.

Code 55 tells you nothing is wrong on the electrical side so its a mechanical fault you have all the above need to be checked out

OK slight boo boo on my part here folks. Just took the car out for a slightly more lively spin and the stock guage goes up to +6 and the aftermarket to about 0.6bar. I'm sorry must have been driving it too slowly before being a bit cautious....are these figures normal....I hope this now means tubs are not seized!!

Does sound a bit 'lumpy' I gues it does lead back to the fact that one of the pistons is out of action...it was working before the tub change though. Would 1 piston down lead to such a massive power loss.

All of your help is appreciated as always by a complete novice!!!

0.6 bar= roughly 7 1/2 psi so slightly short of the stock 9, id predict a slight leak.

lumpy engine sounds like a cylinder down, normally due to poor connection of a coilpack, connector, injector connector, injector, or spark plug faulty

tubs sounds fine, sounds like you might be running on five or in safety boost (or both). You're welcome to pop over here if you like and I'll have a look over it but I reckon AndyP might be easier for you to get to.

Does the forum have acontact numer for andyp he offered his services and I have PM'd him but no reply as yet. If he can't are you free tomorrow night or tuesday/wednesday.

I did the check and got a code 55 doesn't this mean I can't be on safety boost or is it a separate issue?

you could try resetting the ECU .. take the battery off turn youre headlights on to drain any residual current then reconnect the battery about an hour later .. puts the ECU in self learning mode .. at a guess id say that would help as youre saying it smells like its running rich with no ECU error codes

John

I'm in london near liverpool street after work if you still need someone to look. can get to most places in london if theres a tube :)

Also the ECU temp sender on top alloy hose (yellow one) will cause the engine to run in safety boost if it gives the ECU the wrong reading, retarding the timing as the ECU thinks the engine is still cold, can usually cure this by taking the connector off and cleaning off any green shite.
