My 91 TT seems to be billowing a load of whitish smoke from the exhausts, i am aware that this could be the head gasket or turbo seals. Does anyone know if there are any ways to pinpoint what is causing this as i don't want to drive the car incase it causes more damage. Appreciate any input. Cheers

if the coolant system isnt pressurising and chucking water out then chances are that it aint the head gasket.

The instances ive seen when water gets into the combustion chamber and causes white smoke without pressurising the system have been only on start up. the water gets in when the engines cold when it heats up the expansion seals the leak, therefore the exhaust gases dont leak out into the coolant system.

but your saying its all the time, recon its something else

probably better getting it on a diagnostic machine, it could be a number of things, and you dont want to go repairing something just because it might be the cause.

Ive never had to change mine yet so dont know if it causes smoke, but its possible the pcv's are shot

Is it misfireing at all, if it is could even be a faulty injector.

better getting it on a machine to check :)

Not going to get involved in this but surely if the turbo has a good water feed it will run cooler and therefore bearings etc will last longer?

exactly, on some aftermarket turbo application's it may be ok!!
