friday i stopped in a parking space and the car just died. started back up revs irratic rising and falling between 2-300 rpm then dies again. started for a 3 rd time and it dies straight away. left it for an hour problem gone for now but revs not as steady as they were before the problems. disconnected tps this evening and reconnected.revs are a little more steady. connected datascan and there are no error codes etc.

i suspect either the idle valve needs cleaning so will clean that and the throttle bodies tomorrow .

drove up the road saturday after i gave it an oil change. it started to misfire and wouldn't rev.

i took out of gear and the engine stalled.had to coast it into a parking space. i tried to restart it and no go 2nd time it sort of started but was extremely lumpy 4-600 rpm range i would say then cut out.

10 minutes later after frantic wiggling of connectors etc (not really doing much) the car starts much better but still lumpy.

it ticks over but every now and again the engine note changes and the revs drop from 700 rpm to 5-600 rpm.

HELP ive cleaned the ptu connectors maf connectors, checked the coil pack connectors and injectors. what the hell could this be i need the car as its my only form of transport!!

could it be ptu ?

Could be a Dodgy Crank Angle Sensor! I had one of these go 2 years ago and it baffled me!! I had tried everything and had alot of help From Jeff TT and even he was baffled. It didnt even show on the Consult  Changed Cas and it was like New again.

Had exactly the same probs as you! See if you can borrow one to try! or buy a spare anyway.

Mowgs has one for £40 if you need one.
