I have finally given up with the old headunit, as it was skipping even when hitting the smallest bump, so I borrowed a nice JVC unit instead.

I removed everything today in order to fit the new headunit, only to find that the plugs are all different, which I kinda expected. Does anyone know where the best place to get an adaptor from, or is it a part to be ordered in?

Any car audio shop should be able to help you. My one was donated from my friend's 200SX.

Its a common part required then! Thanks.

yeh its just an iso connector, just go with the car and say you want this to fit into that lol

Must be a small car to fit inside the CD slot

you may also need an aerial adapter as the origonal radios had diversity recievers (ie the car has 2 aerials and the plug has an extra pin to usual).

again any car stereo shop should have it as a nissan aerial adapter

Is there anywhere else apart from the Z-Center that you can get the trays from that you know about?

dont know but get rid of that advatar pic, cant take your posts seriously with that long haird hippy lookin at me  :p

Nooooo.......May is a legend.

Right, headunit is in, awaiting flappy tray from Z-Center. Problem being, I cant fit the nice silver suround for the headunit. Was tempted to trim a bit off the center pannel to fit. My question being, has anyone else done this, or do you just leave it without it?

I am tempted to leave it, but it looks crap. Ideas?

Sell it to VinZ if it looks chrome he'll have it :D

Its not chrome, but thanks anyway.

So what have other done? Any pictures?

Bump

So nobody has a picture of their headunit installed....

I wouldn't trim the centre console panel. get a piece of black plastic and trim that and fit in placeo of the silver surround.

halfords do them bud ;)

Sure do!

Although when I removed my stock head unit, I bought the Halfords adaptor (nissan to ISO) but there was no connection for the electric aerial. I had to splice the aerial power feed from the car's loom into the spare live feed from the head unit. I believe I used the accessory wire...

Richard :)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Yup, this too....

......Mine was the autoleads one from Halfords, not their own brand. It came with the adaptor included.

My question here is......

......did you bolt the JVC unit inside the dash using the stock radio brackets, or did you install the cradle that comes with the new stereo?

If you did the former (like I did), there should not be too much of a gap, as the dash covers the edges of the head unit. The first head unit I fitted did have a bit of a gap, however. So I trimmed down the surround that came with it, so that it would fit.

Basically, I removed the top side altogether, then cut back the rear of the outer edges until it clipped in place over the centre console. I then smoothed and sprayed it satin black to blend in.

I can't show you any pics, as I have a different head unit in now and that fits with no gaps ;)

I fried my Sony CD head unit so i wanted something big and clever so i got this:-

Got it from ebay for a modest £114. Will need to hack the centre centre console panel but it will go in :)

I did use the original bracket, waiting for the flappy tray now. Thinking about trimming the surround as I really don't want to touch the original center part. What is the thoughts on moving the headunit to the lower part?

Doesn't matter which you use, as long as it doesn't interfere with the gearstick :)

with my head unit in the top slot i had to trim a bit of the top of the head unit suround to get it to fit. with it in the bottom slot there was no way the suround would fit on

Ah, so it wont fit in the bottom. Shame really.
