just a query more than anything. How many uk zed's are there left...Do most of the members on the forum have a jap import? The reason I ask is my own uk zed was literally saved from the scrap heap, with the amount of rust on the car, it should have been scrapped, but thats another story. So another uk zed was saved...

UK here :D

Me too.....

.....though an article in Japanese Performance a couple of years ago said then, that there were officially more J-sepc cars registered at DVLA than original UK spec ones.

Richard

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

uk one here, had both sills repaired recently and undersealed the car this summer so hoping shes as bomb proof as you can get in the uk conditions! Got small amount of rust on the rear drivers wheel arch, but hoping to get the back end of the car resprayed next year... maybe even the entire car to tidy up the stone chips etc

Mines a UK model as well.. I spent hours welding the sill's and arches only to have the front twated by a C3 :( "But It'll be back soon!!!!!"

so it would apear that the trend in importing zeds has helped drive down the price of our rare UK cars? Well for me its not about how much my car is worth the fact i own a zed is priceless to me money cant by the joy i get from driving it :D

je suis un uk an ma ownerrh iz quite.. quite..well bored actually don`t you know :nana2:

Got my zed imported from Japan. Saw loads of bad ones for sale in UK so i twiddled my thumbs for 4 months while i got a mint one imported for £5800 with a 6 month warranty - that paid for a new clutch :)

92 J spec TT, no rust at all and as the carwas in a billin pecies when i got it i've sent prety much everypannel and part of the chassy, good thing about the japs no salt!! wonder how it will fair up in the uk, Rot quicker or at the same rate as the uk spec's??

Neil

They all have the same underseal protection. UK zeds just suffer badly because UK roads are salted. Japanese roads are not. Local authorities over there spray ground volcanic ash on roads that suffer from Ice.

Also adding to the fact that UK cars have twice the mileage on average than JDM zeds.

What he said......

......although I wouldn't necessarily believe the mileage on a lot of J-spec cars as there are sooooo many fresh imports with the "magical" 54k miles :smash:

Although in general, J-spec cars have generally covered less miles, but at least with the few good UK spec cars you can verify the mileage ;)

I've seen some very very tatty looking so-called low mileage cars. Know exactly what you mean. The guy at the bodyshop thinks the interior of my Zed looks like brand new, so can quite happily say, pretty sure my mileage is correct and others that have seen the car say it's one of the tidiest they;ve seen. :)

Should look even more tidy by the end of the month. :)

Yep, UK here too. Half the price to insure than a Jap :D

Well mine's a '95 Jap imported August this year (pictured in my sig below) and I've just sold an '89 Jap imported June last year. Both cars have absolutely no signs of rust anywhere.

rust , It is a real sh1tter !! All sorted now and all cut out and replaced! Amazing the difference now..As I said at the start of the thread, mine is a uktt 1990..Now you could eat your dinner of the underside of the car, not that you would want to!! ;)

Bud, I emplore you to write a full build thread on your car with photos and everything. Think it would make a really interesting read as I love what you've done to yours.

appreciate the comments Si, the car has been 2 years in the making. I have driven it 50 miles in that time and pretty much replaced everything. Its sort of a funny love affair, but now practiaclly all finished and with regards to write about it Si, yeah, with my zillion photo's it would be a pretty good project..A little pic on that side now sorted anyway..

Mark

Nice job, wanna do mine now. I think putting a thread up on restoration is a great idea and would probably let a lot of the members see that the dreaded rust can be tackled.

did you buy the new panels or fabricate them??

Is yours a UK ?? Mine had nothing at all under the rear bumper, I had to buy rear arches and make the rear inner wings from scratch !!! But I do live in Scotland salt on the roads and stuff ..

Can I join in!!!

I have two UKTT's but I think I have the rare one with only 33,054 miles on it with full service history. It still has that new smell about it. Oh no rust here eather or even a scratch, been in a heated garage all its life, but love them both. Just one problem I work in Taiwan now and it hasn't seen a road for over two years (GUTTED) My other Z is red and it's starting to look its age now if I remember right! So two more here.

now I'm really jealous

I think People have forgotten how nice these cars really where when new and sometimes I just love to look at the un-blemished condition to relays why I keep it. You have to laugh at the women that owned it, as when I asked her what it was like with the roof off! She said that she didn't know how to take it out, so that means I was the first one to remove it LOL. I just can't bring myself to take it out of storage and that's why I bought one for the weekends. I think it's a shame the price has fallen so much now and not even worth selling these days. Not that I would sell.
