Has anyone ever experienced any problems with alloy wheels on track / race days?

nope. a wheel is a wheel. as long as its ballanced and bolted up properly it will spin round.

 

you will find that race rims are.

 

1. cheaper (unless they are magnesium or titanium)

2. lighter

3 tend to be more aerodinamic

Thanks deve8uk. I've just been offered some nice looking alloys but the spokes are like chicken legs and quite thin. I'd hate for them to snap with the extra pressures and forces :(

They should be fine mate, as long as you dont go hitting other cars.

i suppose if you want a "track day wheel" then you would be better going for a forged, lightweight wheel :)

 

light and strong is what you need
