Trying to replace the misserable bulb holder in the 3rd brakelight which sits behind the perspex panel.

Nissan for some reason put a wierd bulb holder behind them which has bulbs facing at different angles, so you get areas which look really dim on it. Those that have them know what I mean.

Because of the size restrictions and the bulb angles, replacing the stock bulbs with LEDs can't be done.

BUT, I've been pointed in the general direction of a company called clearcorners.com over in the states.

Has anyone used them before? Apparently, they can remanufacture your existing bulb holders and turn the strip into an LED array.

I see they have removed the price for the LED rear 99spec lights.

Used to be $1400/pair and stated that it can take 2-3 months

I'm not after the complete rear lights. Just the high level brake light. Maybe it's possible to make your own. After all, it's just one thin strip.

indeed, im playing around with my tail lights and turbo spoiler brake light at work... its just a matter of gettin the right led ratings and getting a professional finish on the modified bulb mounting bracket which is now an led strip.

Yeah that's it. I am wondering what the bulb holder looks like behind the perspex panel. It's different to that of one with the rubber spoiler.

Hi Si,

Clear Corners are a pretty good company. I get them to make up quite a few bits and pieces for my Lamborghini and Maseratti clients. However, beware that a lot of items are not carried in stock and their claim of certain things taking months to sort is not an exageration. I've had to wait three months to get a pair of smoked Gallardo rear light lenses shipped over. Well worth the wait in the end but took far too long (in the meantime the customer had sold his 04 Gallardo e-gear and bought a white 06 Gallardo SE - looks the dogs danglies).

If they succesfully manage to convert the brake light to LEDs I'd be most interested in seeing it.

Thanks for the info Danny. Although might try and have a go at doing it myself. All I need to do is to remove all the stuff from the 3rd brake light behind the perspex panel and just leave the frame of the unit in place. Then, I just need to get something like this to mount behind in its place with the relevant resistors and harness.... just a narrow PCB with pre-mounted LEDs...

Not too sure. Might get one made up. I have a friend in the electronics industry that might be able to point me in the right direction.
