Muppet of the year award goes to...

...me, again!!! mad.gif

Right let's talk about tyres and stock Z alloys shall we?

Because my rears were slicks about a month ago I had some cheap and shitty Marshalls fitted on the back. Reason? Coz I've got 18's on order for when the car goes in to PPS so bugger all point in putting Bridgestones on! wink.gif

So all is fine, until about a week ago. I was driving back to de Wales...Aiiiiiiiiiiiii...from darn sarf and noticed some nastey wheel wobble starting to develop through the stearing wheel.

Carried on driving around, anyway, yesterday I came back down to work(270 mile journey) and fuck me! I thought the stearing rack and the front wheels were gonna drop off on me.

So I'm thinking brakes! So I run the car over to Shit Fit over the road. Matey rings me up and says nowt wrong with the brakes but you might wanna do summat about that massive bulge on the left tyre! wink.gif

FFS! So they quote me for a set of Avons as their cheapest tyre at 140 squids a pop...fuck off basically!

So off down to F1 then for another pair of Marshall cheapo budget death traps instead. Anyway, I look at the tyre size 245/45/ZR16 and head off in to see the guy on reception. He quotes me 86 squids each. Ehhhhhhh, that can't be right I say, how come more for a smaller tyre???

So I say OK I'll have them, getting them tomorrow.

So I ring da Macca up and telling him how relieved I am that me troubles are nowt more serious than a new cheap pair of tyres.

He says, yeah, 245's on the back and 225's on the front! BING! I go round town, get back to work and phone him up again, turns out I've got my rears on the front and the fronts on the fucking rear!!!

No wonder my car has not handled to cleverly since I got it! No wonder everytime I turn full lock I can hear scraping! So not only were my rears on round the wrong way which I've now rectified I need to swap the fronts for the rears entirely tomorrow!

Whoever owned this car before me was a complete and utter dick! What must have happened I reckon is that the rears wore down, he swapped the fronts with the rears not realising they are different sizes.

So all you wheel police aren't doing a thorough enough job, check front and rear tyre sizes on all Z's at Billing! LMFAO biggrin.gif

Not entirely my fault either, you don't really check your tyre sizes unless you need to replace them!

SE......laugh laugh laugh oh well that justifies why i only took my car there once and NEVER EVER again!!!!

Paul

The real question is who f*cked it up, not who did or didn't notice ! Was it matey who owned it before, or was it some hopeless tyre shop ?

When I used Kwap-Fit (the Jonathan Ross version) they made a right mess of mine. Rear wheels on the wrong way around (although there were CLEARLY labelled and I pointed it out to matey before he started) and the balancing on all four wheels was wrong. They did my mates Griff at the same time and his balancing was screwed too.

Plus the pressures were all over the place too !

Yes, but to be fair, from what I hear about SE's performance in these matters, SE probably didn't touch Timmy's car for 8 months, 3 weeks and 5 days. biggrin.gif

I think you're right, it sat in the graveyard for months after they got the pile of bits from Middlehurst that Tim asked them to put back together into a car.

Now, now people! Stop already!

SORTED!!! I am not blaming anyone at all, FFS I only noticed because I was needing new tyres and even then it was Iain who really made me think about it and cleared up the haze.

Just got back from F1 and they have done a good job. I think they are fairly good at the tyre fitting malarkey, better than Shit Fit anyway...IMHO! wink.gif

As I said before, if you looked at the car from any angle it was impossible to notice the minute difference in size.

SE got me bits from Arriva Nelson in Peterborough by the way! Middlehurst just left extra bits in the engine bay...LMFAO biggrin.gif
