Hi guys, although the summers over, im thinking my zed would benefit from a bit of extra air flowing under the bonnet, and was thinking of getting vented bonnet (maybe CF?) for my zed.

Ive had a bit of a look around and not really found anything too tasteful (ie dont want max power / evo style huge vent!)

Im more after just a couple of vents (one either side) that dont over power but let some air in. Was also thinking as ive got a black zed a carbon fiber bonnet might look nice, particularly if i paint most of the bonnet and only leave a bit of the CF showing.

Anyone seen anything like im describing above?

I'd be looking at having one to let some air out....and at the back of the engine. You have the front end of the car that forces air in.

With that in mind, if I was modding a Z, I'd looking at getting a Mercedes vent from a C Class flush welded into the back of the bonnet.

Not only will it look like it was built with it in, it will also be functional. Rather than cutting holes and louvres all over the bonnet itself and ramming mesh everywhere.

Ring round some breakers and see if you can't find one that's had a mild tap in the front with a lightly damaged bonnet. You'll get it for peanuts then. Bodyshop will be able to cut a section out of that bonnet and blend it into yours.

try cool louvres (spell) they quite tasteful and it dont look over board'

...here's a better angle...

i've actually got a c-class company car, and have quite often looked down from a bedroom window at the 2 cars and thought about this... think I even photoshopped it somewhere!

Think it'd look pretty good, and actually work!!!

I also want a bonnet vent, i think they look better facing forward but they let water in and dont get rid off as much air as when facing backwards.

LOL, well they're gonna get rid of even less air facing forwards!

I think the merc vent would looks shite on a zed bonnet tbh, look totally out of place.

The only ones I like are the border ones and Warren(300z)'s old aston style vents.

i had an idea. was gonna get two bonnet scoops of the z31 and face them backwards. Be like the rear facing vents on the Plymouth Superbird.

So if i see anyone with these i will know you stole my idea lol

Helps release heat, but the main reason I went for this style is that water can't get to anything important. When it is raining the water runs over the top of the radiator (bonus). I didn't bother attaching the rubber seal (above battery) onto the bonnet, which also lets a lot of heat out.

I like James300's vents - look very nice but not OTT IMO...

James vents do look really nice, i was thinking along the lines of maybe the JAG xk i think it was, similar to the aston style vents.

Think il probably have to give up on the carbon fibre side of things though and just find the vents and cut them in

Got these on my Z, very subtle. Paint the mesh black & they'll be hardly noticible on your black bonnet

Narrr, not keen on that. Looks like someone's been at the bonnet with a stanley knife.

Is that Steveo's old Zed? If so, I remember when he did that!

I'd love something like that, but they are ridiculasly expensive!
