I quite likel them but wouldn't trust them, they are only unreliable because the scousers nick all the shiny bits when they make them though :) I knew someone with one and he span it 3 seperate times on the motorway at over 70mph !!!! Awesome sound, I'd like to drive one.

I love em.....prices coming down to.....but there are many horror stories about reliablity and awfull build quality.

Brutal handling, not really a car you could drive everyday, especially in bad weather.

nice cars, engine is made of butter!! needs a rebuild about every 15000 miles if your lucky!!

tbh its the only thing which put me off as i too love them and would like to own one at some point

iv gotta day off on fri and want to take one out but g/f is putting her foot down!

picnic in the lakes instead!

boooo!!

I was thinking of buying one a while back as I love them too - look good and have serious performance (10s 0-100 on some versions)

However the broker that supplies the fleet cars for my company told me not to bother as it would spend more time in the work shop than on the road. That's why so many are advertised as having engine overhauls when they have done less than 40k miles.

Now the Maserati 3200gt is a different matter........although when it does go wrong it wil cost ££££££s to fix.

I just kept my ZX for occasional use and bought a reliable Merc SLK as a daily driver instead.

If you want a weekend toy, though then go for the TVR

Richard :)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

My cousin has one. Went into TVR for a clutch replacement and was in there for 8 months. Been out in it with him and i wasnt impressed. Yes its fast but fookin hell do all the panels have to move :headvswal

Read the horror stories at the TVR forums, some types of TVR engines were needing rebuilds at about 30K, also remember that if you have an unreliable 'supercar' its all the more worse when it leaves you on the hard shoulder and people just point and laugh.

Having said that though my mates dad bought a griffith because he wanted a car that was 'old school' in terms of reliability so he'd have a car that he could regularly work on. Only problem is that its not had a single failure in 2 years, probably making it the most reliable TVR in the country.

i was thinking about the griffith too

but there is something i just love about the cerbera, looks awesome, a total beast!

The Cerbi is gr8 car, if you can get one get a 'Red Rose' spec, the are running 480 BHP. they are sound if you get the V8, stay away from the str8 6, the oil ways are very poor and the top end will need doing after 10k.

I nearly got one, its way more reliable than most, I went to le mans with my m8's Tuscan S, that was fun, but the same applies to the cerbi....dont floor it if the weathers dodgey....no traction control....tons of power = :headvswal

Also get one with the tuscan light conversion....looks good.

Ive been a TVR fan for yonks....most folk here (sorry if I offend) are probably repeating gossip about reliability etc....I doubt very much wether they have actually taken one out and really driven it and experienced the ride or the probs for themselves 1st hand.

The cerbi has a few niggles with component placement and rubbing bits etc but other than that there fine. Now if we're talkin tuscans....I would agree with the comments about reliability, my mates S was ok, he was lucky! Avoid them unless you have enuff cash to love em :wack:

As for reliability, as I said....stay with the v8, its a sorted motor, the speed 6 would have been a decent motor had they not modded the engine to avoid paying royalties to the designer....they cut corners and modded the original design....reduced bore and number of oilways etc...plus other bits. Its a shame cos I watched both synergy cars finish at lemans 2004...a good achievement for a brit company.

Go out and drive one for yourself....you'll love the cerbi.

My 5 pence worth, lol.

Marc

....if you get a chance to try the new speed 12.....

they ve got to be one of the best sounding cars ever to hit british roads

cheers marc, some really usefull info there

hopefully fri or maybe monday i will be taking one out

will let u all know what i think!

Although iv never been out in a TVR we had one (A Cerbera) come into work and i must say the finish on it was terrible! None of the panels lined up properly, the bonnet didnt sit properly and the doors sounded horrible when you closed them. I asked the owner about it and it hadnt had any work done on it as yet but it had only done 20 or 30k. Im only going on what iv heard and read but reliability is a major issue with them. IT didnt even look impressive in the engine bay. This was the V8 one. But as a weekend toy you cant beat the noise! I dont know whether all the cars are finished porely but by having a close look at that example it put me off wanting to own one.

Although id kill for a Tuscan purely for the looks and the NOISE!!!
