I'm looking to trade in or sell her 206 GTi and will probably have a budget of £6000.

We want something sporty, what suggestions have you lot got to offer?

Obviously it has to be an estate.

Thanks

Preferably looking for newer than a W plate. MG ZT-T look tasty and lot of car for the money.

Mitsi gallants are awesome cars, as powerful as the Zed but an estate!! There was a guy going round castle combe faster than me in one. He'd been at nurburgring the week before in it as well!!

BMW 3 series touring are very good as well, I've been looking at getting one as I can put the surf boards in it but can also learn to drift in it!

Got to be an Audi as above or a vw

Like Brian said a T5 yes if you want a bit of poke 155 MPH (restricted) 0-60 under 7 secs very fast reliable and comfortable. Not too bad on juice and the insurance on Volvos seems good enough. I would own a V70 T5 (new shape) if I had the money  . The other suggestions are OK too Except the MG. Sorry I had a ZT + 190 from new for two years and it was nothing but trouble and the stories of MG's still keep flooding in. Dont what ever you do get a 4X4. they are going to levy them soon and it will be an hard car to get rid of if you dont like it?

Oh yeah! The engine from the T5 is the one they use in the new orange RS focus I believe???

test drove a few galant legnums ( estate version of the vr4 saloon) and loved em , only thing i didnt like was the dash is very plasticy and bitty ( i know what I mean)

Personally for me it would be a RS2 or a T5

what about a used mitsubishi galant vr watsit, im toying with the idea of trading my everyday motor for a saloon version but just a 2l.

subaru legacy GT 2.5 twin turbo is what i'm looking for at the moment

The chap that picked up my old wheels turned up in one of those- stacked up all 4 wheels in the boot, still could have put 4 people in it; plus 4WD and as much power as the Zed. I never realised they had that much poke! And they look like your standard load-lugger.

I aint being a twat here (I Promise) BUT! a few of you have said that cars like the subaru and the mitshu are as fast/powerful as the 300zx I presume you are talking N/A? because if my TT is anything to go by then I eat these cars for breakfast? I must find someone to have a swap cruise with to compare mine with another 300TT.

I believe they were saying they were as powerfull (nearly) .....but not as fast.

A Mitsubish VR4 makes about 280bhp.

I think the centre diff can cause problems though.

Saab 95s are pretty impressive - especially the 250bhp one.

Yep ,the VR4 is a very fast car, as powerful as the TT zed. There was one flying round CastleCombe last year as fast as any other car there.

We've got one, a 190+, and it's pretty quick and comfortable. It's not particularly fuel efficient though and there are estate cars with more load space - the curved roofline means the boot isn't as big as a Mondeo's or a Volvo's etc. It does what we need it for though and they are good value.

I just bought a BMW 525i se tourer. Its a 1995 with massive milage 205k (!!) but full BMW service history. It has a very good body with no rust and only a few niggles and tatty paintwork etc. Its very powerful for such a practical estate car and handles very well. Its burning oil, I got a oil low light once I'd done the 70 odd miles home :( Hopefully I'll be able to keep it going through the winter but worst case its a rebuild but will still be pretty cheap as I only paid a grand (knocked him down from £1500). Maybe I ought to do the head gasket, rings and waterpump now ??? what do you think?

Touch wood ,wish me luck and all that!

I owned an S4 Avant and was very impressed with every aspect of the car. ROughly 6 sec 0-60, traction control that put incredible power down in the wet (if you take the piss though, like dumping the clutch out of a junction with the throttle wide when turning it just turns it off and you spin), great build quality, looks and an amazing Bose sound system............god I miss it!

I loved my Alfa 156 V6 and will get the Sportwagon when I've got a bit more cash.

Very nice car to drive, fab styling, leather, 200bhp and all the extras for sod all cash second hand.

I got a 3 year old saloon version for £4200 - they're about £25K new!
