You know when your car just aint running right, I have that feeling now, done a fault code check , nothing, everything seems ok , but the boost slowly drops as the car gets warmed up(13.5psi to 11psi) and it dont feel as fast. I am hoping that replacing the centre box with 2 straight pipes will sort it as the baffles are gone in the box ( i am getting it done at long life exhausts tommorow), its the only thing i can think of that could cause it, I am hoping the extra backpressure is causing the probs as the exhaust is getting incredibly hot.

Ah well either im going mad or it is the centre box

Tune in for more insane ramblings tommorow when i accuse my car of sleeping with my wife.

Yep, even the Wife's na is feeling a bit laggy in this heat, the TT's will be suffering more

It's the heat down here dude, as you know from the internal ambient air temp guage it showing anywhere between 23 to 30 degrees outside in Cornwall at the moment. Gave mine a good run the other day and boost peaked at 1.1 Bar and dropped off to about 13 Psi... I've never had boost drop off before and it's only happend the past few weeks since it's been soooo red hot down here... The air is so hot and thick that our tubs just can't compress like they can with cooler damp air...

never happy :slap: during the winter you tt guys wanted the "summer to come along so you can get the targas off ect and take it for a blast.... now when the summers here and fookin lovely weather you want the winter back so you can have colder air but with less grip on the roads you wont beable to use the power. heehe roll on the na's lol.

thx guys , specially john as your down here in this weather as well so at least im not the only one suffering the crap, never had this much heat soak before on any of my turbo cars, gonna have to go the upgraded intercooler route earlier than thought.

Could you tell me how much your paying to the centre box sorted out mate. I want to get mine done too, but not because it's knackered, I just want it louder :) It's allready a HKS stainless but it's not quite loud enough.

Cheers

they said if its is straight forward then £45 , but shouldnt go above £55 either way for just 2 replacement pipes of about half a metre in length

Oh its up to its old tricks again is it? I came home one night and found it in bed with neighbours 17 y/o daughter and her mum! My current TT does this alot but I forgive it as we have an open relationship and im free to see other Z's!

Anyway, my advise has to be, a tank full of Optimax followed by a dose of NOS 104 RON fuel additive (A1 motor stores or such like) I also found that a Redex injector cleaner through your particular car seemed to help during those less powerfull feeling days. They all seem to have them and the heat aint that bigger factor with what your talking about mate, so up the octane baby, I speek from FIRST HAND experience!

P.S: I have still got loads of pics of RED when she first came into the country, PM me and I will send em to ya mate.

Thanks Jasey, I am quite surprised at how unpredictable the boost is on hot days (11-13psi at will depending on the cars mood)

Got the centre box sorted today and fell in love with the sound of those rear boxes on a straight through system, made my knees wobble.

I do feel the car has relished its new sound as its started eyeing up the wifes sister and i found a razzle hidden under the seat today, it must be going through puberty...the age is right :slap:

Heat makes a big difference mate, my 'forced induction performance tuning' book ( ) says that you lose 1% of hp for every 7 degrees increase in air temp.

Could be time for THAT ;) talk mate.

Hi All

I have to laugh at what has been written above.

Firstly I have been told that the car handles like a pig in the wet and now we are told that the air doesn't like warm weather.

When can I take her out. :headvswal

Hope you all have a great weekend.

Try this Go to Twinturbo.net > FAQ > Auto FAQ >The 6 Ps: Proper Preparation Prevents Piss Poor Performance. This is an wonderful writup.

Amen to that my Apexi multichecker shows 340PS on a nice cool morning and then lately 307PS    Thats 10% power reduction in this hot weather.

Now where is that article about cryogenic intercooler spray

Chris

Wow, its a fair bit of power loss when you think people spend hundreds on an exhaust and induction to get less of a gain than that drop.

It just shows how bad the weather is for forced induction right now. It makes me even more impressed when you see the achievements of the JUN zed  at bonneville all those years ago http://www.junauto.co.jp/democar/jb-z32/index.html?en

guess they ran in the early mornings.............

chris

Well what can I say?......... I came home the other night to find him sat on the drive with his plenum out and my missus stroking his balance pipe! Divorce proceedings have begun, its a pity cos I cant cook..... but she had to go!!

Im not sure that a couple of PSI is too much to worry about on a hot day, lets be honest if youve got the T's out and the Oakleys on with some late 80's early 90's rock band thrashing out your speekys, who really gives a toss? :x:

BHP improvment is something reserved for those dark damp winter nights in front of a p.c sniffing through forums and Ebay for trick bits, not the middle of the summer when the Z really come into its own eh guys?

Now go cruise as slow as you can so everyone see's ya! ;)

Jase
