Do an engine flush and an oil change.

thanks is that likely to do the trick or is it looking like further inspection will be required,also whats the best stuff on the market to flush with?

I think Wynns and Forte do a product..Some people put half a litre of ATF fluid in but I,m not so sure about that..Better off sticking with a product designed for the job..

ATF in the oil should clear it up, don't keep it in any longer than needed though.

Yeah that Wynn's hydraulic valve lifter treatment is good. Worked really well for my engine.
