If I renew my subscription and then sell my Zed can I still come on here and tell everyone how fast my new Rx7 goes without p*ssing everyone off? :wack:

Or should I just bugger off to the rx7 owners forums?

love Dave

Here's my times, bear in mind I'm a complete drag novice so still useless at launches. Did the first one on low boost, second on second boost and the third on third boost( 1 bar). I didn't use high boost (1.15 bar) as I didn't want to end up in the concrete! The third run is pretty good though at 12.9secs. I put my time into a 0-60 calculation and it reckons I did 0-60 in 3.48 seconds!! not sure how that works as my starts were so sh*te but still thats what the car was predicted to be able to do now?

reaction ___+1.487___ +2.220 ___+ 1.583

60ft _____3.395 ___2.734___ 2.394

330ft ____7.396 ___6.513 ___5.928

1/8 ET ___10.519 ___9.325 ___8.632

1/8 mph ___78.26 ___88.08 ___94.55

1000' ET ___13.135 ___11.657 ___10.909

1/4 ET ___15.454 ___13.703 ___12.914

1/4 mph ___96.51 ___115.14 ___116.94

Anyway just get back down there on Jul 16th and I will show you how to drive the thing properly!!

Nought wrong with Rotory Engines mate :) easy to rebuild :) just remeber they use more oil than piston engines HeHe

Don't think I'll be there now Pete, I've just booked a couple of days with John Lyon

http://www.john-lyon.co.uk/courses.htm

Going to do a half day fast road driving/roadcraft and then the next day the start of the high performance driving course including time at millbrook proving ground. Then once I've got some space on the overdraft ( :( only excuse is I've got the winter to pay it back :) ) we're off to Mira proving ground to have some more fun weeeheee! I was going to get the track days in but decided it would be more beneficial to improve my driving skill first. I really learnt a lot just ragging the zed around at brunters so looking forward to doing it with an expert.

At the end of the day the rotary engines may need rebuild at around the 60k but other than that a good engine-I would dare say most of us have spent just as much on vg30 rebuilds as most rotary engines have had 60k rebuilds.

you never said that last week !

Oh come on! I had some sideways control by the end of it!

Hang about mate!

And those times look impressive - once you get the hang of launching right you could be in the 11s - that is FAST

Glad you've stayed Dave... You know we would miss you lots and lots!!!! Really good times though considdering you've just started this drag melarkie!!!

TBH Jon (and I'm sure SlickPete would agree :) ) It was the car that got the times and not me! I just did as best I could no try and keep some traction. I tried in full boost on an empty 'private test track' a few days before and it was wheel spinning all through the gears but the Pod puts sticky stuff on the track so that helps a lot. Now if I got in the elevens then I'd say I had something to do with it!

That sicky stuff is glue.

I know. Sell the RX7 and keep the Zed instead!

Thanks for the helpful suggestion Si !

The rotor tips will need refreshing on this engine a long time before 60k due to the high state of tune, probably after a year or two depending on the milage. I just look at it like paying for new tyres or whatever. If I want 100k car acceleration then I've got to put some extra cash in somewhere. Its still a lot cheaper than buying a budget porshe or high power skyline so not bad overall.

By the way, why have you choosen to get a Supra? Seems an odd choice after a Zed, in that the zed handles better and all. I guess if you want something that is a little easier to tune to big power and a bit faster as standard. I often think one of the big plusses of owning a zed is that if you choose wisely you can have everything a supra has but for half the price and with better looks? Not that I've got anything against them, still an animal of a car.
