Soup Vs 300

Just had a little tear up with one of my mates from work. His is a Supra MK4 running 450 bhp, and there is me with my meagre 340 bhp, let me tell you his car his fappin fast!!! going to do the mad mile shortly to compare the performance difference. I've come to one conclusion I want 450 bhp!!!! now.

Took me in his car and its the fastest thing I've been in, and I've been in some quick motors Porches,Ferraris etc. I didn't realise what an extra 110 bhp wouold make such a huge difference.

What injectors and turbos would I need to run 500???

I feel the need, the need for speed!

Whatever, not arsed mate...just about to embark on a 3.5 hour drive!!! biggrin.gif

Just my Aussie mate, and the Aussie crew prefer the V8 over any six, told me that the V6's are well know for having balancing problems and are prone to failure more than a straight. He knows a thing or two aswell, used to do a fair bit of rallying! wink.gif Oil circulation isn't as efficient in a V either as Nelson found out with prototypes of the engine when failure occured from oil starvation on cornering! Hmmm, now having oil lubricating vital engine parts I would say is fairly important when cornering, wouldn't you???

Right later guys and Warren, off home to buy a Soup! ROFL biggrin.gif

I find that my zeds is much faster than soup. Mushroom soup tends to do the worst against my car as it usually quite thick if made correctly and although much smoother is not really and competition. Consommes ie borsch is much thinner and so does a little better. I think ive only ever been beaten by soup once at the lights and that was when i didnt realise my car was in reverse, booted it and ended up reversing rather rapidly into a large smoked salmon terrine, needles to say due to its soft composition and smooth moist texture it didnt fair to well against my back end. oh well.

i find it strange how so many F1 teams can have got it so wrong, using a V design engine, rather than straight biggrin.gif

compact and space efficient

good weight distribution and balance

shorter, stronger components

how many big bikes use a V design engine, especially the racing engines.

if it was such a bad design, then regardless of space saving, they would design something else for the bikes...

if they were inherently weaker, then >10,000 rpm (F1 and bikes) would show it pretty quickly....

ferrari, lamborghini, aston martin

V design engine please

porsche 928 ? V engine...

and whats another variation of the V engine ?

oh yes.. a flat boxer engine

too many big power porsches... ferrari 512.. even subaru... ! biggrin.gif

Yeah you're right Craig but look at most F1 cars. Engine lasts for 1 race then has to be rebuilt, bit like a Z really! Needs a major engine overhaul when other cars like the Toyotas can crack twice or even three times as much mileage(tuned to the hilt) before having to come apart!!! LMFAO biggrin.gif

Don't know many sports bikes or any motorbike for that matter which isn't sitting back in the Main Dealer showroom after 40K odd on the clock do you?

So yeah the V design is great, arse for space though but longevity over a straight? I think not baby puppy! LOL biggrin.gif

i got both :-p

IMO the supra is a better engine. after all, i'm rebuilding the zed and still driving the soup around and i bought them the same time!

BTW the zed has less mileage!!

Latz

Cheers Latz mate, about time someone with a Z gave an unbiased opinion instead of just slagging every other car off coz they own a Z which makes every other car inferior!!! BRAVO THAT MAN! wink.gif

Can I also add that I've had both aswell, I know the Mk IV brigade think the Mk III was a dog and as Iain pointed out the head is prone to going. Due to Toyota not torquing the head bolts down enough at the factory! But mine was fine and at tickover you couldn't even hear the engine.

I love me Z but I do like to think that I'm unbiased! wink.gif

IMHO

Blitz DSBC Boost Controller

Custom 3" Full Stainless Custom exhaust

Custom 3" S/Steel de-cat down pipe

Custom 19 Row Oil Cooler

Hypcars stage II Hybrid Turbo's @17psi

Porterfield Race pads

Full stainless steel braided brake lines

Whiteline Height/Ride Adjust shocks (KONI)

The car is only running at 17 psi at present but should be tuned to 19-21 psi a little later in the year.

I haven't totalled up the cost of the engine work but figure this cost me £5000.00 plus labour.

regards........

Gavin, have you been showing off again. I wont tell you again, the reputation of the Supra must be kept quiet otherwise we might go the way of the Impreza....

heh.. engines last for one race, because they are built that way, not because they are weak... very big difference...

when they are revving to twice the redline of a road car, i guess the team like to know it wont fail...

them not finishing a race costs them a lot more than you not getting to work wink.gif

my Z has 145k on the clocks, with original non rebuilt engine, original turbos, original gearbox, and no reason for it not to go on for a while longer yet....

and nice russian accent you have there biggrin.gif

looks like you were one of the lucky ones craig m8, i only put an exhaust system on mine and as soon as i started it on the ramp, the turbo seals went!!!!!

i mean FFS!!! no problems before that!

I think we can say this about many cars.

I bet there are people what have loads of trouble with there £100,000 Ferrari and then loads who have never had a stutter from it.

I have seen 3 year old cars with 30,000 miles with blown engines.

Im like Craig, 147,000 miles, original Turbos, all original engine components, only having to replace the normal things, brakes suspention.

As for the F1 thing, yes they only last 300-500 miles if its lucky, but its over 800bhp from a 3 liter NA engine that revs at 19,000rpm (Well the BMW does)

So it looks like the shopping list is as follows:

Decat pipe(s)

Exhaust

Injectors

Turbo's

Brakes

Intercooler

Labour

options?

Boost controller

SE chip remapped for bigger injectors

Racelogic traction control

Anyone care to put figures against that lot

Mail me if you are interested.

the autos turbo spool up faster than the manual as the manual's have to stop in between gear's.the auto keep spinning so faster..........................................................................................................................

It will take time to do this, first just make sure you have good induction and exhaust, cos any future mods could be hindered buy them.

I dont know much about this but look at Steve_E's ride, he is running about that.

Dont forget that if you go for 450bhp or 500bhp its not just turbos and chips.

I think manual gear boxes are good to around 600bhp and auto around 400-450. (This is what I have heard, no hate mail of Auto owners please biggrin.gif)

Your clutch will have to be replaced, and I wouldnt trust the Z brakes with that much power, so personally I would look at them too.
