Hi guys,

I viewed a 300ZX Twin Turbo today and thought id publish my findings. The guy had it up for sale for £6k and is a 1994 manual. I thought for £6k it should be a very nice example!

It has a few nice modifications too, such as twin Kakimoto exhausts, Greddy boost controller, Greddy turbo timer and a Blitz turbo guage.

The car has coilovers, a nice looking bodykit and aftermarket alloy wheels.

I went to have a look with high hopes with a massive grin on my face, itching to have a go, thinking this is too good to be true.

Anyway, first impressions were good. After a good look, I found a few minor flaws. There were:

1. Had no immobiliser/alarm

2. Still in KPH (he said this is legal?)

3. Still limited to 112mph

4. Crack in front bumper bodykit

5. Some sort of alarm wire stuck all over the front windscreen.

6. Had holes in the dash board where something had been previously mounted

7. Broken wing mirror

8. The boost controller was all analog. Had no instructions either!

So I knew to get these things sorted, it would cost me around a grand.

The bloke is from Japcity, he said the business no longer exists. However, the car is on autotrader and states 'trade', plus the car is on their website. All sounds a bit dodgy to me.

I offered him £4500 for it, expecting him to negotiate. However, he wouldnt budge a penny!

I came away dissapointed because the car showed potential!

Anyway, what do you think? Did I do the right thing?

Im looking to buy a very good example 300zx, is anyone selling? Or has anyone seen a beauty?

Blitz dump valves (giving that extra boost of power just when you need it)
:wack: Did I miss the point of dump valves or are they talking out of what most people sit on?!

Good on yer - it's worth waiting for a "good 'un" to come along.

Good luck

Dave

To be honest mate heres a few comments :

1. Had no immobiliser/alarm - easy enough to get fitted plus you know the electrics havent been messed with .

2. Still in KPH (he said this is legal?) yes it is legal and again easy to sort and again original condition so hasnt been molested or bodged.

3. Still limited to 112mph - same as above and u know it also hasnt been thrashed in that case ( well less chance )!

4. Crack in front bumper bodykit - ok yes this would need sorting

5. Some sort of alarm wire stuck all over the front windscreen.- thought u said it had no alarm ??

6. Had holes in the dash board where something had been previously mounted- yep would need sorting but plenty of cheap zed parts about now.

7. Broken wing mirror - as above

8. The boost controller was all analog. Had no instructions either! - sounds like a manual boost controller or a bleed valve , Crap and would need a proper digital controller

so in all if u wanted to a minter straight away then fair enough but nothing major there to sort tbh mate.

The car had no alarm/immobiliser. I had no idea what this wire around the windscreen was used for. It looked like it had a front windscreen demister or something. Weird!

Im not expecting a minter, but for £6k I was expecting the cosmetics to be in better shape. Oh well, on goes the hunt!

Not sure where JapCity is based as I went to the owner's house. He was selling it privately.

Their website is http://www.japcity.com. Is this the one based in Derby?

The owner said the company no longer exists and yet the car is on their website and states 'trade' on Autotrader. Things did seem very dodgy! My gut feeling was to run away immediately and dont look back!

He said he bought it from Japan for £5500 (yeah right) from a trader!

SGT C's zed..absolutely lurvly...

yep, if I had the cash I would have his arm off.. ;)

Hi,i was speaking to andyz on here yesterday and he mentioned he had a very good short wheelbase manual twin turbo in grey for sale at 4.5k,his number is 01953 498 443

Hope this helps

Paul

cos_almera - I'm selling my Z if you're interested. It's a Jap Auto, 62k miles. It had a full engine rebuild only 3000 miles ago including brand new, bigger turbos (at a total cost of £4.5k). Otherwise it's all standard, but is the perfect car to work on as the engine's already all sorted, new seals everywhere etc. I'd be looking for about £5250 for it. Mail me at regdorp@hotmail.com if you'd like any more details on it. Selling it because I cant afford to run my Elise and my Z. Cheers, David

As Paul said, I actually have two Z's for sale, soon to be 3 Z's for sale.

All SWB, all TT's, 2 manuals, 1 auto, two slicktops and 1 targa

Feel free to call (numbers below)

Thanks
