You had a man? Is there something you'd like to tell us indian? :p :D

[sneaky edit there mate ;)]

Only kidding. I had an auto before my manual, and I do kinda miss it sometimes. It's by far the best auto box I'd ever driven so certainly don't rule a good car out just because of that.

Oh no... don't ask that!

Seriously, go for whichever one you fancy. I went for a manual but that's just because I'm not a fan of automatic boxes generally, and nothing against the one in the zed in particular.

Got to agree!-auto's are renown for fooking up,but you can do a lot to stop it happening! ;)

how do u know if the auto box is going,

When it stops going i guess ;)

After what i read on here last week about Z32 manuals maybe autos are not such a bad choice,,, youve only got two feet,, so why have three pedals??? :D

My 300 is my first auto.

As a driving experience I prefer it.

But given the choice I'd probably have a manual as they're supposed to be more durable and do more MPG.

It's down to the individual really.

There are lots of exceptions but if the car has done 80k ish then expect the possibility of having to recon the auto-box.

I could never buy a high performance car....with an auto box...

Completely agree with that comment. You chose when to change gear not the car.

maybe cos technology is more advanced than drivers and KNOWS when it should change

after your last escapades at going anywhere but straight i'd leave the drifting to the experts m8 :nelson: ;)

Uh, yeah, except it doesn't: for example, it's completely incapable of changing down two gears in *anticipation* of making a maneuver. An auto *will* drop two gears, but only after you're committed having floored the accelerator. No thanks. Whereas a manual, you just stick in the gear you want in preparation, a gap opens up in the oncoming traffic, and you're away.

i'd never try to convince anybody whether manual/auto is better

personal choice

but i bet on my time on the forum, i could check back most of those who "hate" auto's and find a post of theirs mentioning problems with clutches etc, some are probably down to wear and tear

autos are not meant to be driven the same so if they are then you WILL get

problems, you reckon car makers would be still fitting them if they were flawed?

i see many new owners saying they have just bought a car and are doing cam belt service etc, very few ever say changed auto fluid????

at the moment i have 3 autos, my zx, the wifes volvo t5 (ex police) and a skyline, my wife can only drive autos , i have driven a LOT of autos in last few years and not one have we ever had a problem,

apart from the volvo i can't remember the last car we bought that wasn't an import (sorry yes i can my jag convertible AUTO lol)

2 pajero's, supra, soarer (stupid bhp)skyline, 3 zx's including min, celica etc,

a good autobox in a well looked after car should last the lifetime of the car

one owned by 1 careful owner and 3 lunatics or some muppet who thinks two pedals means he has to use two feet, then just hope you are not the next owner, and when you hear people say autos don't handle power

jaguar for years built 5.3's 4.2's, the yanks built bigger engines than some nuclear power plants :nelson:

the rover (hang on lol) 827's were stupid fast with the honda engine and that auto box was A1, theres loads more examples

maybe another good reason for buying a nice example from the forum that you can trace back through posts, and forget the ones who post to say how they went drifting or road killed this and that

good and bad in all just remember to buy one with your head and pocket

not your penis :nelson:

there are 1 and 2 settings for a reason ;)

Yeah I know, but it still might change gear on you at an inconvenient moment. Sorry this isn't a dis of the zed autobox at all, which I've heard is very good. I just don't like/trust automatics. I'll drive them, and I do like them in very heavy traffic, but generally I'm not a fan. Just my opinion though, I know some people love them, and that's fine, and I'm not saying they're wrong to like them.

This is why I love manuals and would never drive an auto. Autos are for wimps who cann't drive ;) :D

Autos cost more.

And they're the pimping choice.

If you want to wizz round corners with the engine revving it's nuts off (and what does everyone say when they see someone doing that? Is it 'ohhh, they're impressive' or is it 'what a wnaker'?) then manual's the way forward.

;)

I don't agree with this but PMSL
