pretty quick,never liked the rx7,they sound like hoovers and are a girly car imo

Ours certainly does NOT sound like a hoover. I has a wonderful deep throaty sound to it. It'll be at Rotorstock if you'd like to hear it.

I love them. Faster round a track than a Zed and more performance orientated. If a zed as modded as mine didn't come up so cheap I would've had one. Just didn't want to spend the money and still have to think about re-building the engine at 60k. It was a close call but the zed was such a good one and the rx7 was an unknown quantity and more expensive.

Hmm that'll be why when they were racing the zed in america they changed to the Lwb then and started winning everything? Right back at ya!

 

Don't get me wrong I'm not saying I prefer the rx7, just that I'd love to have one. I really wish you could see zed competing with gtr's and rx7's on the track battles in Japan but it doesn't seem to happen (nor supras). I guess supras and zeds are a different beast. One of the reasons I bought the zed was because I was driving very long distances so I wanted a performance car that wouldn't snap my spine spending 5 hrs on the motorway. The zed definately excels at this, and goes so fast so easily.

snappy comeback ;) and im shocked to hear this,but in road trim the swb slicktop from 1st hand experience outbrakes,corners faster and can pull out the corner far quicker than an rx7,it's funny everyone praises the rx7,but from driving many of them the reality is far from the dream in my opinion,and i'd go as far to say i'd rather stick needles in my eyes rather than own one :x:

I already have an modifed RX7 on the driveway and hopefully but July he'll be joined by a Zed. Then the fun will realy begin. :hyper: :hyper:

RX7=250hp & 1250kg (from memory) = 200hp/ton

 

Zed=280hp & 1550kg.................... = 180hp/ton

 

They are far more performance orientated than the zed. I like them.

 

But as Dave (royal) says, the zed is a fantastic cross continent car. I found that out when i drove from Le Mans to Halesowen (500 miles) non stop (apart from ferry lol) in one day. 12 hours later i was still feeling good.

 

Top cars, both of them.

ok dunk,i'm going to really split hairs here and say the slicktop is 1360kg :D

 

and i in my opinion it takes more than a power to weight ratio to make a good car,or we would all be getting beat by 16v nova's ;)

what exactly does your opinion have to do with the laws of physics? bhp/tonne will make you accelerate quick, big bhp will make you go really fast.

Zed = 280hp & 1360kg = 205hp/Ton it's 5hp/ton better than the RX7. But the RX7 will still brake later and corner faster :smw: :mac1: and fun is NOT all in a straight line ;)

 

I agree with your above statement, but as i said earlier weight is the killer for the Z32. I had a 200sx S13 before the zed and that is bang on the same weight as the RX7. When I switched to the zed wow, you could feel the extra 300kg (mines a 2+2). Much more noticible in fast, tight, direction changes, but the zed excels in high speed >120mph cornering. Absolutely rock steady once you get it in ;)

 

as for FWD...........ewwww forgive me for i have sinned, i'm driving round in a Ford Cougar at the mo because my car has been paintstrippered.

dunk,i too was an s13 driver,and you should really get a shot of a swb slicktop,its like an s13 with a 3.0 twin turbo,you really feel like your in a small car,dave g,andyz and mike feeney have all comented on how much more nimble they are,as for the weight figure,i hunted for ages and ended up getting the figure from mike feeney,i wasted my time defending the zed in this thread anyway as it turns out its the gen 2 rx7 lets drift has,not the ugly curvy one(imo before it all starts again)lol

Quite right about "Fun is not all in a straight line" No one appears to be able to keep up with our 7 around the bends. :hyper: :hyper:
