Mate, my 200sx used to do that to me.

I never figured out exactly wha caused it.

Maybe something to do with the weather and what clothes I was wearing.

It was certainly worse in the summer.

I find it depends on what trainers or shoes i wear. Yes OK sounds like BS but its true. I was told to get a short lenth of chain and bolt it to the car and let it hang and touch the floor and it will discharge??? You used to get straps that bolted to the underneath from halfords. Sometimes its not just a little buzz niether sometimes its a fookin great crack and you can see the arc.

My GTE recaros and certain types of material would give me a belt all the time. Its a combination of the cars upholstery and your clothing causing friction. It hurts sometimes but can be fun if you touch someone else first.

I like touching the dog on his wet nose its so funny :x:

I just bought new shoes and now I get it all the time when I wear them - very annoying ...

  my dog runs around the house then comes up to me and shocks me,,,he does this all the time,,,cracks me up,,as for the cars,,,every car i've ever owned has done this so i treat it as the norm, you should see what happens in the bedroom its like having a angle grinder going

The way to avoid the shock is hold on to a metal part of the car before you get out and keep hold until you have stood on the floor that will safely discharge you.

My Skyline had a small metal disc in the inner door handle.

When i got out after touching it i never got shocked again.!

Now theres a thought. I bloody hope so I am fitting my one this week.

Had a rover 820 that always got my husband but never me. he he

My old Renault used to do it all the time, but particularly when it was warm. Think, like others have said, it's just the norm.

It's normall down to the car having a poor earth... Yep, i get them too.. People laugh when I get out of the Z and go to shut my door as I get zapped big style.. Then end up waving my hand around for a while cause it bloody hurt!!!

Chav trainers and cheep socks could be the cause.
