Is it possible to remove the engine with the gearbox still attached? Or do you have to remove the gearbox first?

Curious to know, as I know that some cars they can both come out together. I should be removing the engine this weekend, so am planning ahead for the final stages. It's almost ready to lift now, just need to figure out what I'm doing with the gearbox and a couple of other little bits.

yes, it's possible with a manual gearbox, but not worth it IMHO.

you need to drop the subframe slightly and need a crane that can lift high enough and supports the weigth of both gearbox + engine

Yes you can and i found it much easier to leave it on as its easier to line up the box off the car rather than in the car but you do need a decent crane to do it ;)
