i think abot 90 percent off all z's do this but ive never been able to cure mine either ive tried the washing up liquid theory and the drain holes are clear but it still leaks in

Treat the rubber seal with Auto Glym bumper care. I says it can be used on rubber seals. Give it a few coats. That is all you really can do.

try vaseline! my driver's side do it os i put some vaseline on it the other day and what would you know it isnt leaking any more biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Hi,

With all due respect, I strongly recommend that you DO NOT use Vaseline on your car's rubber. The reason being that it will dry out your rubber and in a while you won't have a slightly leaky Targa but a gushing waterfall instead! Silicone is another no-no. Use autoglym products or anything else that is meant to treat and revive rubber. The product must contain vital natural oils to do the job properly.

Good luck.

Vaseline and rubber should never be mixed. Anyone tried KY Jelly on their targas? LOL

Just kept slipping for 15 minutes did you?

I know the Z is a sexy beast but that's taking it a bit far (that reminds me, must get some 5" tailpipes)

Hey... accidents happen. What can I say. Now I know why some people just go for the single large tailpipe though. Two can sometimes be to much.

I just fixed this same problem on mine. Passenger side, front left corner kept leaking. The drips setting off ultrasonic sensors. My cure was to remove offending targa, remove plastic trim (1 pozidrive screw) lift up rubber trim, dry all areas thoroughly, squirt some silicon sealant underneath rubber into groove and also flat part near to drain hole. Reassemble everything and be dry once again!!!!

Hope this helps anyone!!!!

any body no of a good re mover of vaseline!!!

think i have f**ked up

look on the bright side i only used it on a tiny bit!

Halfords do a rubber and nylon lubricant in a yellow can. Smagic. Costs about £3.Quote "wide range of uses incl assembly of ruibber parts, protection against hardening and cracking and elimination of window squeaks and sticking. Ideal for use on weather strips, mouldings, trim, rubber door and window seals".

I use it on the vinyl interior and it drinks it all up. stops it cracking. Good stuff try it instead of the vaseline.

i've just the right thing, mine strted leaking too but i brought wet suit now it's fine m8 lol....................(mine doesn't really leak, for 'humor' perpose only)sorry couln't resist..............................................................................
