I use mine all the time and no probs...

I used the TT as a daily driver for quite a few years and it never let me down. There was a period where I bought a diesel escort to save the Z for weekends, soon scrubed that idea! I had a fantastic drive to work and the mighty diesel was just too boring!! Saved a bit of cash, but thats not the point in owning a Z!!

When the Z arrives in canada i'll use it as a daily driver from May-Nov but not in the winter, too much snow about here then! Shell V power is only 35p a litre aswell

Andy

I rarely use mine, never abuse it and it's still got a buggered engine. :(

'their'. ;)

Use mine as a daily driver and touch wood no probs at all

Shit, that reminds me. Must go and pillage those little centre caps from that R32 at work for you!

So do you think that 6000 miles in 4 weeks across europe would be possible?

Sorry if this ends up hijacking the thread

If it's a well looked after engine and not taken beyong its limits, then sure.

I also use my tt every day , engine wise i hav,nt had a problem in the year and a half i,ve owned her

I think a zed needs driving regular , there,s alot of people only use them at weekends or even less and you,ll probably find their the ones who get daft little problems like water leaks and rattly followers :smash: IMO of course :D :D

My Z will be landing in Halifax Canada in May and I'll be driving it 2500 miles across. I dont really have any concerns but I will be carrying a tool kit just incase! luckily I always carry a spare PTU and some electrical cleaner, the usual failure a Z can experience. Just make sure you know how to do a diagnostic on the ECU and give it a good service before you set off.

6000 miles across europe sounds wicked, I'll be driving mine right down the west coast of America next summer, should be an awesome drive!

Andy

It's my long term plan, this year i'm paying off debts, next year to buy the car and do any relevant servicing, summer '08 for europe. I just saw the oppertunity to ask the question so I thought I would just check I wasn't asking too much of my future car.

Thanks for the replies though

Back on to the theme of the thread though, when I do get a Z it will be for weekends only (And the occasional trip into work).

Mine is a daily driver, its a TT but i dont know where the turbos are

and dont ask about my reliability :smash:

Couldn't agree more. The more you use em the better they are IMO. As for getting a second or third car as a run about to save money on fuel. By the time you pay for the car, the insurance, tax, & other running cost. Then add that to having the zed just for the weekend. You need to cover a lot of miles in a year to cover it (if that makes any sense lol)

daily drive yup...now i have it back .......woohoo

school run and going to work and driving 240 miles round trip to deepest darkest Yorkshire for some daft reason

That wasn't deepest, darkest Yorkshire. You were barely out of the Midlands

Oh yeah - nice to have met ya :D

Mines been a daily drive all winter, driving lots of miles before christmas. I was doing 400 miles trips at least once a week for a while, now I'm doing 50mile round trips often in heavy traffic, although I usually drive early or late to avoid the rush hour. Apart from blowing a MAF in heavy rain its been rock solid.

Shit, that reminds me. Must go and pillage those little centre caps from that R32 at work for you!

That would be brilliant Si

Hi John,

Not in NS, I'm over in Manitoba but still working in the oil industry.

I'm just flying over to Halifax to collect the Z. The ship arrives there from Southampton.

I've had my Skyline shipped out already but that came across to Manitoba on the train. Much rather do the drive in the Z, just have to wait for all the snow to melt!

Andy

I use my car everyday though i only have 125 miles a week driving for work. In the 5 months its been ok other than: clutch failure from factory fitted one after 40,000 miles, i crashed it duh!, gearbox slave unit failed last friday but this is relatively minor.

The fuel economy is miserable but that goes with the territory of a 300hp uber GT. And for sheer smile on your face factor the ZX is great value.

I don't use mine every day, but it's my only car so it gets a lot of use. I'd say I use it a good 4 days out of the week. It's a TT and TBH it's been fine. It needs its prop-shaft replacing (actually just the centre bearing, but Mike Feeney can get the whole shebang for such a good price I thought it would be daft not to) and a new clutch fitting, both of which I have, but that's pretty standard stuff.

Only thing is of course the fuel economy is awful, which is why I try to be a bit careful about when I use it... so I don't generally drive to work in it unless I need it afterwards, or it's really foul weather (I only live a mile or two from my office, so it wouldn't do the car any good at all to be continually doing that stupid little trip).

Cheers,

Bart
