Take the turn-off for Broughton off the A55(Junction 35A) and follow the sign posts to Broughton Retail Park.

 

Pub is next to McDonalds.

 

Just a show of hands for an idea of numbers. GPS meet was great a few weeks back and it would be great to repeat that atmosphere with more cars than last time.

Why is it, that as far as you're concerned, the 'southern' people are expected to turn up to any meet north of Watford Gap, and derided when they dont?

 

And if you consider coming to meets in the south a waste of petrol... Why do you? Just dont come!

 

For that matter, why is there this whole 'southerners' and 'northerners' shit? Why can't it just be a case of people who are going, and people who aren't going, regardless of where they are from?

 

Jeez. every time someone organises a meet and all this shit kicks off, the chances of me ever going to one at all gets smaller and smaller.

 

In fact thanks, I think you just made my mind up. I wont be going, to any meets, southern, northern, left, right, up or down..

Its my bloody wedding aniversary that day, so as much as i would love to come up and SLUM IT for a day, I think I take the Mrs out for a meal and have a nice shag later!!!!

 

BUT Northen Boys I promise that after April I'll get to where ever u decide to have a meet as long as they sell designer lager in nice small bottles!

You don't get the point I am making here!!! Its not a case of people not coming to the occasional meet - its the fact that ANY meet organised north of said gap just gets COMPLETELY ignored by anybody south of it!

I knew this would happen anyway - thats why I posted it - to get at least SOME responce from the southern posse

 

Anyway by going to the northern meets with Johnny we get the best discounts so

ive had an idea... dont know if anyone else has heard of it but at about may time the veedub peeps have a meeting in newquay called RUN TO THE SUN and they go from all over the country and stay for the weekend, i just happened to be down there a few years ago when it was on, and considering it was full of vee dubbers it was quite a laugh.Drive by shootings with super soakers etc. anyhows heres my point, why dont we have one called something like RUN TO THE RISING SUN for jap cars, all sorts could come skylarks,supras,evos etc and wed just decend on a sunny(ish) town on the coast somewhere for the weekend. its either this or a cannonball run.

Look at it from a mileage point of view - from here to the end of the M6 is 165 miles for me. Add to that the fact that once I get to the end of the M6 I usually have another long drive to get to the 'southern' (middle, whatever ) part. You may well be coming to Birmingham but that for you is less distance than I would drive to, say Billing!!!

i thought you were organising it, not just trying to drum up interest. you already had that !!

 

how far down the "organising" route had you gone ?

 

official route planned ?

stopovers sorted ?

applications forms sorted ?

confirmed media interest ?

charities signed up ? reasons for the run....

 

if you got this far then you were serious about it all, so what happened ? or were you just drumming up the interest and assuming that someone else would take over the actual organisation of it.....

I'm kind of slung in the middle here with a house in Worcester but with most of my furniture still further south, but I still won't be attending on the 24th.

 

I will however, be at the Easter Meet at the end of March.

i didnt see much negativity about the event.

only a few concerns about legal awareness, and how to make the event proper to get backing, and the legendary Z reliability

 

aside from the fact that only about 10 different people posted on thread in total..

 

i think that is because most were waiting for something more definite to come out of what was basically a thread full of ideas..

 

i assumed you and matty were off and organising it, and the next time it came up would be when you asked us to sign on the dotted line etc..... thats my pov on it

 

so come on then, revive the idea and organise it for the summer!!!!!!
