How long's a peice of string? Depends what you want doing and what state the current engine is in.

I couldn't be bothered with all that, so went and bought another engine.

Considered a new engine, but are they a tw*t to fit?

Half the work of an engine rebuilt. Engine's still gotta come out.

The best way to budget for an engine rebuild is to first consider how much money you've got available and then look at what you can get for your money.

Sound advice :)

I think there's an ad in one of the Japanese car mags (?J-Tuner) offering guaranteed engines from Japan for under £1000. I think!

Anyone know what i'm looking to pay for a full engine rebuild? An where's the best place?

Im confused. Your selling car, then breaking car, then rebuilding engine...all becuase you have a hesitation that most of us have experience at sometime with out zed's, and which is more than likely something very simple to fix like a coilpack, PTU or just dirty connectors.

No, found oil in the pipes where the boost jets are! So decided its something more serious! I'm humming and harring what to do with it at the moment, i really don't want to break it! But............

How much oil? It's ok for there to be a small amount. You may find it's the PCV valves in which case, scrapping the car is preposterous.

I would personally invest in taking it to somewhere like ztech zed world. any one that specialises in these cars.. pay them there 50£ or what ever to inspect the car and determine its true fault.. then go from there.... you have ALOT to loose.. and so much to gain.......

see even better!!!! nothing to loose financially... but alot if you dont go!!!!

so my personal advice.. get there asap!!! get a friend with a trailor or what ever and get it down there....

PCV valves???? That means nothing to me! I'm clueless about mechanics!

....and you're wanting to break a Zed when you don't even know what's wrong with it?????

why dont you just take it to jeff at zedword in tamworth your not that far from him

get it checked over by him and take it from there most of us are running problamatic

cars you can still run it you a just a bit more aware of the faults you have got jeff knows every thing about them

May have sorted a solution, I'm taking someones advise and selling the rims, getting standard ones to replace and gonna try and fix it! Trust me guys, deciding to possibly break my zed was the hardest decision i've ever had to make, an i'm ex army!

Why don't you just get the problem diagnosed before you make any rash decisions. Why sell a set of £1000 rims if it could be a £30 part?

get it checked first, and dont buy a 2nd hand engine unless you know for sure its ok,and you KNOW the person who owns it,seems extreme for a faulty turbo bud, always welcome to get it looked over, and diagnosed :)
