BOV's are bad news on zeds tbh, due to the MAF setup, during the time the valve is open, it causes big overfuelling, thus bore wash, thus higher engine wear, of course most people don't care.

As for shattering impellers by running no dump or recirc valves, I very much doubt it, as said some turbo cars were shipped with no valves.

And as for wastegate chatter, yeah it sounds good, kirbz's does it nicely but then again he has open turbo inlets :eek: :D

i like the sound of the standard recircs to be honest, subtle enough but still audible... talking about chatter, i don't think i actually get it (or i can't hear it) but i'm only running about 1 bar or so. Can hear it on my mates cav turbo now and then but he's running it about 20 psi.

 

I don't have a problem with dump valves but just not on small turbo cars.. used to like the sound but do prefer chatter (when you can get it)

you wont hear the chatter because of the recircs, which incidentally shouldnt make a noise at all.

ah, it's obvious now you say it lol DOH. I hear a swoosh if i back off the throttle fairly quickly just presumed it was the recircs?

maybe you do get that with increased boost, i wouldnt know.

I fitted baileys ones today and to be honest im not that impressed i really have to put me foot down to get them to do anything so i might just put the stock ones back one as there dosnt seem much point in having them if you have to destroy your engine just to get them to make a noise lol

They need adjusting. They are set too high.

usually they have some adjustment on the spring or whatever they have.

 

As an aside, next time you see a type-r honda, race it and see how much advantage your torque gives you ;)

Been there done that i wasnt very impressed i thought the honda would have been a bit quicker. although it did stick to the road like glue on the roundabouts.

sorry bud, but it's true, stalling the turbo puts huge stresses on the impellar blades, and 'shatter' maybe the wrong word but you will eventually break a blade and then its bye bye turbo and maybe engine :cry:

I find they generate the wrong kind of attention though, it's usually the boy racers and chavs that rubber neck when they hear them.
