I had a profec B specII fitted recently at zedworld. As i had given Jeff about 2 days work to do in 1 day (handy of me ) we decided I would set it up myself.

I copied some basic settings i found on a search here for 9psi lo and 13psi hi, then realised it was reading in kPa. Tried pressing buttons as the instructions said to switch to psi which i thought i had done correctly, but recently I have been told it should say psi on the display near where kpa was.. but it doesnt!

Also just in normal mode it spends forever pretty much at 0 gave the car a good run yesterday and the display didnt change nor was a peak registered (even though peek is on?) then randomly pulling into ca car park it started to red 1, then 2, then 1 but didnt seem to tie up with anything the turbos would be doing...(as it should have been - anyways as was just idling along)

Next time i turned the car on it went back to just reading 0, but then the peak display showed 2. That was it...

Im totally convinced ive c*cked something up with pressing buttons on it... but anyone got any ideas how to get it working properly..

also am i right in thinking it should show psi on the display near where kPa was? and should it read boost "realtime" on the normal display and then hold the peak on that screen?

(long post to say it doesnt work sorry)

Yes, they're supposed to give a real-time reading.

As to the problem, I really don't know. If it were me, I'd check the vacuum pipe going into the back of the Profec control unit first of all.

right i will have a look at that, i have checked everything under the bonnet.. it all looks kink free and in the right place...? I will pull the profec out and have a look behind the unit itself...

is the display supposed to show psi on it or does the kPa just disapear when its in psi?

I'll have a look at mine in a bit and let you know later this evening, if no-one else gives an answer in the meanwhile.

No, it doesn't say PSI on the display at all - I think it only tells you when you change it from kPa to PSI. Even when mine is switched off it still gives a real-time boost reading.

right, il be pulling it appart then next weekend

maybe a kinked hose? assuming that it is all connected correctly....

thanks for the help all..

any body else got a good idea? it appears to be connected up correctly ? I say appears as there are no obvious kinks in any of the pipe work and everything appears connected tight ...?

There are lots of T pieces around (but i seem to remember that jeff said the profec wasnt supplied with stuff for a twin turbo hence the T pieces..)

Getting bit frustrated now as my new toy is fitted and cost me ££ but not doing anything!

Also just noticed that just after ignition on the profec beeps twice.. this normal.. give any kinda of information if something is not working correctly?

Have you got the manual, if not then download it. Those beeps must mean something, mine doesn't beep after ignition!

  • Author

are, i do have the manual somewhere i will look, thought the beeps were normal obviously not... il dig out my settings in a min aswell, but got them off here and know a few people posted as using them..

settings

LO:- SET=16%, GAIN=18%, SETGAIN=48, WARNING=110 with a drop of 20%

HI:- SET=33%, GAIN=21%, SETGAIN=85, WARNING=155 with a drop of 20%

just checked the manual online at greddy.com and it doesnt mention anything to do with beeping indicating an error in the system? ideas?

surely there are enough profecs in use here that someone can give me some idea where to start looking to get this to work...

if no-one else can help, give Jeff a bell mate Im sure he'll come up with a couple of ideas, or even suggest dropping it back to him for a look.

cheers guys, im going to rip it out this weekend, and slowly follow every pipe and wire through o try and check for anythign un-toward.... if this still turns up nothing then Im afraid it will have to go back to jeff... trouble is im not even sure if my profec works or is broken.... and i dont exactly live near jeff now!

hopes of an electronic controller being simple gone! more hasstle than 7p boost jets :headvswal :headvswal

Sorry not to be any help mate. Mine was set up by Thor racing by the previous owner. I can take a photo of the screen if thats any help? I don't touch any of the buttons as its fast as fk in normal mode, don't even need the overtaking bit! I do need ot get round to reading the manual and learning how it works though. I've got an air'fuel controller as well that just does its thing.

no problems mate, no idea where to start with this damn thing appart from checking every inch of pipe under the bonnet connected to it.... going to be a long weekend!!

Iv got one mate... give me a bell on 07901768837 if you want.... mine beeps on startup so i think thats normal..... and when in PSI it wont tell you so... as to the other problems it sounds as if the boost line has come lose somwhere... have a good look! another thing it may be is the air filter fitted in the line... it has to go in a certain way, this maybe stopping flow or messing things up.

If you have paid to have it fitted i would take it back...... i fitted mine myself.
