Yeah helpfull chris. been told over and over again on here it all depends on how good the place is. Yellow pages are not gonna tell me that are they

Rebuild them yourself: cheapest + "reliable" way is to order new or (genuine) Garrett remanufactured cores (or CHRA's). Garrett partnr: 431876-0041

With a good set of snap-ring pliers, ringspanner size 13 and rubber hammer you'll be able to remove the compressor and turbine housing from the old turbos.

Put the housings back on the new CHRA, make sure all the in/outlets are lined up as they were on the old turbo and you're done.

Note: check the turbine/exhaust housing for small cracks (especially around the wastegate flapper), if cracked: replace turbine housing

when reinstalling the turbos always use brandnew oil lines and when all done and starting the engine for the first time remove the main EFI fuse and turn the car over for at least 1:30 minute (to prime the lines + turbos with oil)

Sorry Chris, didnt mean to be a bit of an arse. Just everyone says go to a good place but no one says who IS any good

Yep know 110% what you mean. Turbo re conditioners will promise you the earth with a "money back guarantee" this is actually not worth the paper it's wrote on, as they will blame anything else but their rebuilt tubs.

Give Mark a chance to quote you and see what his guarantee involves (i suspect he'd want to fit them though, best to check up) Failing that then try one of the well known firms http://www.turbotechnics.com/docs/index.htm but again their guarantee is the same as above most of the time.

I've also heard David (Ricerocket) is very good and was gonna use him myself untill Ryan pointed out it was my PTU that was fooked and not my turbos! :headvswal

I always dealt with turbo dynamics mate, found them to be very helpful, not bad prices, couple different options for you to choose from and prices from about £1100 (I think)

hth

cheers

smithy

also as said before mate, if you could let us all know what the deal is once you sort it out.. bad news for you on the turbos, but you might be able to spread the gen to the rest of us should we get stuck in the same situation

Ah my turbos are fine, im just concidering my options on if i can afford to get them sorted as the engine is out anyway. Just for piece of mind

independant garages such as zen garage,z-tech or the like,IIRC will not supply turbo/s only as this may void the waranty due to fitment issues etc

so best bet as lymon says go DIY

or exchange your old tubbies from company like turbo tecnics etc etc
