I have recently bought a 300z i have had the car De-Limited but when the Car is in 5th Gear it seems very disapointing. Put it this way i had a 200sx and that car would walk all over the 300z, why?

Call me stupid if u want you seem to be losing your rag a bit buy what do you mean by normally aspirated! Is the car a waste of time! Iwas thinking of spending a few bob on it is it worth it ?

I'm only loosing my rag because you don't quite seem to understand exactly what it is you've bought. You don't even know what Normally Aspirated is.

You bought the wrong car for the wrong reasons. It's common logic.

300zx NA top speed is around 145mph and is no faster than a 200sx

300zx TT top speed is around 175mph and is a lot faster than a 200sx

Edgey - 300ZX are either twin turbo (TT) or no turbos (NA or normally aspirated).

Which is yours?

The car is a n/a but it struggles to get to a 100mph surely that cant be right?

Yes, that's not right.

Get it to a mechanic who knows about them.

i expect at least 150mph if it cant deliver what a load of tripe!

Considering the National speed limit is 70 mph WTF is a Z doing less than 150mph a load of tripe as you put it  You sound like a chap who will own a Z for a few weeks and then be in the paper for binning it. :headvswal

Obviously a non turbo is gonna take longer to reach 100mph but in what way does it not get to 100mph? Do you hit a limiter and the power is cut for a second or so and speed drops down around 5mph? If so, id say that your car has still got its 112mph limiter installed and your speedo is reading to low and you are actually "hitting" the 112mph limiter.

Or if its just not reaching 100mph because the power doesnt seem to be there id say its to use the technical term, ****ed!

Or on the other hand are you just running out of road? In which case id suggest that the supermarket car park is not the best place to do a top speed run - dont mean to suggest you may be a bit chavvy or anything but a Senator a 1980's Chavellier aint it?

Thank You Legrath the web site has enlightened me.

Thats what we are here for just remember callin a 300zx TRIPE on a 300zx WEBSITE is not really the best foot to get off on my constuctive suggestion is to subscribe it is a mear £20 and for that you could A. buy 4 packs of fags B. buy a couple of rounds down the pub C. 1/4 of a lap dance.......................... or D. get more knowledge of the car you have bought, more tech knowledge than you will probably need, parts, fellow zedders to come round and help out, and if and when you sell it proudly say member of the 300zx club..........now i cant say fairer than that can i ?!?!?

Yup, something wrong then. The NA will still make 100mph pretty damn quickly.

After driving the 200sx i was impressed and i thought that the 300zx was a natural progression but i am so disapointed with it especially with the top-end which i dont know what the top end is supposed to be ? I had a 3000litre non turbo vauxhall senator and that was a flying machine whats so different with the fairlady?

Sorry to hear you're not impressed with your ZX :(

However as many have said, you have bought a non-turbo version. I have not driven one as I was only interested in the twin turbo model myself, but since the 200sx is turbo'd and by no means a slow car, I'd have thought the N/A ZX may (N/A boys correct me if I'm wrong) not be quite as quick.

The top speed of the N/A is around 145mph, once de-limited. It still has a nice 3000cc V6 so unless there is something wrong with it, it should not be a slouch. However if you had a twin turbo, then there should be plenty of acceleration right up to 150mph (and beyond if unlimited :D)

What kind of mileage (real mileage - not that "claimed" by the dealer/importer  ) does it have?

Do the diagnostic check or take it to Baggins at Z-Tech for a once-over, that will reveal what is not at all well.

Good luck - oh, we are a nice bunch of guys really. Just a bit passionate about the 300zx, so referring to it as rubbish may upset a few more sensitive souls :D

Richard :smw:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Ok look at the cars.

200sx is a lot lighter than a 300zx ( engine is lighter , body is lighter etc.)

200sx has a turbo and not a bad one at that( remember that the torque is improved with the turbo)

If you wanted high speed then you should of gone with the TT

The N/A is like comparing a full fat coke to a diet, with the diet you get the look the feel and almost the taste but without the oomph.

sorry for talking tripe but im good at it.

i expect at least 150mph if it cant deliver what a load of tripe!

You sound very young mate, an interent forum that can be read by police etc is not the place you want to go on talking about driving at 150mph.

TBH, I think the guy's being a bit of a cock burger..Sorry if that seems a little harsh.

Reasearch is everything when it comes to buying a car, thats what ive always done and it always pays off cos you know exactly what your gonna get!!!

i used to get about 145 in my s13, with a few light mods, although things got a little shaky and scary! id say its bound to be quicker. i think until youve owned a turbo u cant appreciate just how much of a difference it makes.

for example look at the renualt 5 GT turbo (god i miss her! :( ) thats only a 1.4 but itd still give plenty of much bigger non turbo cars an absolute whooping! so an s13 (which is lighter and i might be wrong but probably has a much higher bhp to weight/engine size ratio) is bound to be as quick as a 3 litre N/A or faster.

oh and obviously those speeds were on a track!

I own a n/a 300zx its not slow ive had a n/a 300zx z31,turbo z31,cosworth v6 24v scorpio, my n/a z32 is quicker than all of them yes the twin turbo is faster but it is possible to mod your n/a without spending to much to keep up with you standard turbo boys not on the top end maybe but most places thay aint getting away 100mph top end is wrong and slow to get there is also wrong i think you need some help with your n/a buddy so quit slating the 300 which will upset people and ask for help instead
