Yes its the same car but after extensive work and a respray :D

MantaV8s wife has my old SWb which was a july 89

on an F plate one of the earliest ones ive seen

specially a shortie

Z32 was officially launched in Spring 1990 in the UK, so the earliest they could be is a G plate and even they were rare.

The vast majority of early UK cars would have been H plated

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

I saw a F plate auto (can't remeber if it was an import on not) for sale about a year ago at dealer called ariva in stapleford notts

I know what your saying bud but mine is an import and is definately an F (89) registration as marked on the Vehicle registration document- (Year of manufactor -1989)AndyP will probably confirm this:D

Was it a blue 2 + 2 with blue interior, reg no F217 UJN?

Cos if it was its one to stay clear of, its my old one and it has a massive vibration problem!!!

That one was chasis no 186 so there were at least 185 more that if they were brought over from japan would of neen F plated, i only know of 3 or 4 including this one.

But F plate Z32's do exist thats for sure.

Year of manufacture and year of registration are two different things. I'm pretty sure what Richard says is correct.

What happens a lot of the times is that when cars are imported, they are re-registered using the year of manufacture date, not the year of first registration.

Year of manufacture would still point to an 89 F if registered and manufactured in that year!

and richard was refering to Uk Models not imports. ;)

My zed was registered in 2000 in the uk and it is an F 89 not W 2000

I am talking to year of first registration in Japan, not UK. When importing cars, the importer tends to look at the original docs, not the registration docs as these get removed before vehicle leaves the country.

IE, friend of a friend has a P reg Cavalier, now this wasn't manufactured in 1997, but 2 years previous, but 1997 was its year of first registration.

Similarly, the first batch of 300ZXs may have been manufactured in late 1989, but not hit showrooms until early 1990 and thus registered accordingly. Once imported, you have as I've discribed earlier a re-register in the UK based on original manufacture dates, not the Japanise first registration date.
